AB - This paper analysis the cause's dynamically loaded screws failure, using the structural analysis of mechanical properties and numerical simulation. The comparison with the new unbroken screws, which were not in use, has been done to determine the condition of the broken (dynamically loaded) ones. Analysis was performed, according to the following test methods and activities: non-destructive testing, visual inspection, radiographic testing, chemical analysis of screws sample materials, mechanical properties of screws' materials. Structure analysis of screws materials: Testing macrostructure (light optical microscope, SEM-EDS) examination of the microstructure (light optical microscope, SEM-EDS), fractographic examination. Numerical simulation of the stress state of the dynamically loaded screws was done in CATIA software package, and it was identical to the bolt loads, during service exploitation. The results between numerical simulation and structural analysis were quite coinciding - the difference is about 8-10%, which is pretty good for these types of experiments. Such an overlap, says that the stress value at the very screws is reliable and give us a true picture of loadings. Structural mechanical tests have shown a very pronounced effect of dynamic loads, that large shear stress shows also as a good agreement, where between the stresses, obtained by numerical simulation and structural mechanical testing. Analysing the results, obtained by numerical simulation and structural mechanical testing were performed with the redistribution of critical stresses, and proposal for the structure optimization. The comparative analysis methods have been provided the precise prediction of fracture appearance and made possible to define the preventive measures.

AB - The variation of factors such as the amount of alloying elements in solid solution, thermal and
thermo-mechanical treatments changes the corrosion tendency in the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy. The measurements of
electrical conductivity enabled the estimation of the structural state of the alloy, i.e. the type and the degree of
precipitation. The corrosion behaviour was examined through three electrochemical methods(Ecorr., polarization
measurements, EIS).The measurement of corrosion potentials (Ecorr.) gave information about the distribution of
the alloying elements between the solid solution and the precipitation phases. The polarization measurements
have shown a more positive value of pitting potential (Epit.) and a greater resistance to corrosionfor the two-step
aged alloy. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has also shown that the two-step aged alloy has
better corrosion propertiescompared to the one-step aged alloy. The fracture mechanics (FM) method wasused for
SCC testing and hasshown that the alloy after two-step precipitation hardening is significantly more resistant to
SCC. The obtained results enable a greaterinsight into the effects of both heat treatment and alloying elements,
primarily copper, on the corrosion resistance of the alloy.

AB - In this paper it is presented reparation of steel construction of selfpropelled
crane telescopic boom by welding. By doing visual inspection of
self-propelled crane, it is noticed numerous cracks and deformations at the
outer and inner surface of steel construction at base metal and weld, both.
Based on results of examination, it is decided to do reparation by welding
in order to reduce influence of residual stresses.

AB - The aim was to investigate the cause of failure of as-received ultra-high strength steel springs,
which were deposite-coated. The qualitative analysis of surrounding environment was performed.
Springs were visually and radiographically examined. Their chemical composition was determined
using spectrophotometer, primary and secondary structure by use of bright-field reflected light
microscope with vertical illumination source, and fracture mechanism by scanning electron
microscope with energy dispersive system. Macro-hardness measurements were employed, also.
The phases present in deposite were identified using X-ray Powder Difractometry and Electron
Microprobe analysis. The safety valve springs failure is caused probably by corrosion-assisted
process with presence of overloading.

AB - In the paper is presented the possibility of determination thermal conductivity for the
insulation materials, which are used in the tanks for liquid carbon dioxide, in situ. For this
purpose, was developed the mathematical model for description of the pressure changes in
function of the ambient conditions and storage time. The application software was developed
also for computation of the pressure increase two-phase mixture in tank, relating to the time, and
the thermal conductivity determination of the insulating material. Verification of the program
was done in function of exploitation incoming data. The numerical simulations of the pressure
increase are done for various degrease of tank compliance. The influence of the ambient
conditions is expressed by the heat transfer fluid in tank and the environment. Used incoming
data are the temperature profile and sun heat flux characteristic for Serbia, in summer time.

AB - As-received floating-head heat exchanger bolts were broken (BB) and deposite-coated. The aim was to estimate
a cause of their failure. The new bolts of the same material were used as a reference material (reference bolt –
RB). After visual and radiographic examination, their chemical composition, structure and room-temperature
mechanical properties were determined and compared. Comparison was made with the values set by standard,
as well. Afterwards, fractography was performed on fractured surfaces of tensile specimens and originally
(during exploitation) BBs to try to get an impression about bolts failure mechanism. Qualitative analysis of
deposite was employed in order to confirm was there any possible influence of surroundings during their failure
in terms of corrosion-assisted cracking. Chemical composition of RB and BB materials was analyzed by use of
spectrophotometry and structure properties with light optical microscope (LOM). Fractured surfaces of tensile
specimens and of BBs, as well as deposite chemistry, were analyzed by use of Scanning Electron Microscopy
with Energy Dispersive System (SEM-EDS). BBs had an approximately three times higher sulphur content and
lesser manganese content, lower ductility and higher strength values comparing to those of the RBs. Generally,
fracture surfaces of both, RB and BB tensile specimens have a similar rosette-like macro-appearance. The only
difference is that the radial marks in the case of the RBs are rougher. The surface has a more fibrous area and
shear lip presence. Fracture mode can be characterized as dimple rupture and micromechanism as microvoid
coalescence. In the case of BB tensile specimens, the mixed presence of dimples and cleavage facets was
noticed. The macrofractography of originally broken surfaces shows a rough and complex topography of
fracture surfaces indicating on a possibility that bolts failure has been a result of complex loading conditions.
Presence of sulphur- and chlorine-containing particles on the fracture surfaces of BBs and in deposite reveals a
possibility that failure was environmentally-assisted.

AB - Ventilation mill for grinding coal is one of the main steam
power plants in the system that makes a significant influence
on the level of energy efficiency with its work. Working
parts of the device during exploitation are dominantly
exposed to intensive abrasive and erosive wear and also to
impact loading at elevated temperatures, which can lead to
damage and fracture of homogeneous materials, thus
shortening their working life. The consequences are the
reduction in mill production capacity and its ventilatory
effects compared to the projected value, as well as frequent
delays due to parts replacements, that significantly affects
the productivity, economy and energy-efficiency of the
system.
In order to determine the optimal technology for
revitalization of the damaged impact plates the experimental
model-hardfacing was engaged and different technologies
and additional materials were used. Three technologies archardfacing
were applied (MMA, SMAW and gas welding -
G) and eight additional materials with different chemical
composition and properties (Fe-Cr-C-Si, Fe-Cr-C-Si-Ti, Fe-
C-W-Co-Ni-Si, Fe-Cr-W-B-Nb-Mo-C, W-Fe-C and WC-Ni-
Cr-Si-B). The aim of this paper is to make the selection of
optimum welding procedures and additional materials and
hardfacing technology definition based on the results of
structural and mechanical properties of samples of
experimental model hardfacing. Cutting the samples for
mechanical and structural tests is performed with water jet
cutting using hardfaced test plan. Investigation of its
macrostructure has been done, diagrams of distributions of
hardness have been made, zone of the surface layer and
HAZ-a, and the degree of mixing for all hardfaced samples
have been defined. In addition, microstructural analyses
were obtained with optical (OM) and scanning electron
microscopy (SEM). The choice of additional materials and
hardfacing procedures which were applied in the hard facing
impact plates ventilation mill has been made based on the
results of this research paper.
