Crystallization support tube in a laboratory furnace

AB  - Design of modular, simple to build and handle air cooler ('crystallization support tube') installed in a laboratory tube furnace is presented. The setup allows easy regulation and simultaneous crystallization tests of different temperature gradients, shapes of crystallization fronts and rate intervals in crucibles and Tamman test tubes, enabling fast studies of obtaining crystals. The relationship between the crystallization parameters has been derived and numerically analyzed. This method can also be applied in crucible or tube furnaces.

The setup allows easy regulation simultaneous crystallization tests of a series of different crystallization parameters in several columns of test tubes, enabling fast studies of obtaining crystals. This device (air body with more simple control options) can also be applied in a chamber and tube furnaces. The relations between the crystallization rate and parameters of air-cooled test tube are given and numerically analyzed.

AB  - The cooler allows easy regulation of simultaneous crystallization tests of different crystallization parameters and substances, with the purpose of obtaining crystals from a family of newly synthesized compounds with a layered crystal structure. The procedure involves first increasing the voltage until the substances are completely melted. Then, while a constant furnace voltage is maintained, a small amount of airflow is introduced into the cooler. As a result, crystallization starts on the surface of the melts for the lower row and at the bottom of the melts for the upper row. The crystallization rate interval in each Tamman test tube is regulated by the cross-section of the airflow. Different temperature gradients in the crucibles can be tested simultaneously using an inclined cooler. Tamman test tubes and plugs of various shapes and dimensions can be mounted and thus tested at the same time. Several coolers or a planar air cooler with several columns of plugs can be installed in a chamber furnace (crystallization board).
