AB - Although the same quality of various metals from the recycling process is considered for granted, obtaining aluminum of high purity and aluminum alloys with identical properties as from production from pure raw materials is a very challenging process, especially if the sources for recycling are numerous materials that contain different impurities. In this study, recycled alloys were produced by melting of aluminum scrap with the addition of the required components. This paper aims to compare two commercial Al alloys with their analogs from the recycling process. Both of the alloys belong to the aluminum series 6000, with designations 6060 and 6082. The results of comparing corrosion and physical characteristics are presented in this study. Physical characterization was performed by measuring the alloys' hardness and electrical conductivity. The electrochemical investigation used several corrosion methods, OCP (open circuit potential), measuring polarization curves in apparent Tafel region with extrapolation of results, and LRP (linear polarization resistance). The corrosion environment was acidulated 0.5M Na2SO4 with pH=2.5. The received results have confirmed insignificant differences between the properties of the commercial and alloys produced by the recycling. Recycled alloys have achieved almost identical mechanical properties and even slightly better corrosion characteristics, which was the consequence of the lower concentration of impurities in recycled alloys or higher concentration of microalloying components.

AB - Binary palladium alloys with nickel are known to have catalytic activity and are also used as catalyst-trap in the synthesis of nitric acid. High Pd alloys are corrosive resistant in many solutions, including highly alkaline and highly acidic. Although generally not prone to corrosion in low concentrations of mineral acids due to the high content of palladium in it, this alloy is still prone to the dealloying effect under specific conditions. The dealloying process was researched under anodic polarization in 1.0M nitric acid solution. Scanning electronic microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and electrochemical methods were used to study the susceptibility of PdNi5 alloy to dealloying.

AB - Palladium alloys with low nickel content are commonly used as catalyst-trap for platinum or
platinum-rhodium catalysts in the process of production of nitric acid. Pure palladium and,
consequently, alloys with a high concentration of Pd are highly resistant in many corrosion
environments across the full pH range, from 0 to 14 and beyond, in the presence of different anions.
Mineral acids do not affect palladium, especially at lower concentrations; they can be dissolved
just in the mix of them. However, nickel in the alloy can be selectively dissolved in single mineral
acid with the use of an oxidation agent or anodic polarization, which is the more controllable
process. The aim of the work is the research of dealloying of PdNi5 in 0.5M sulfuric acid under
anodic polarization conditions. This study used open circuit potential, linear polarization
resistance, and chronoamperometry as electrochemical methods. Scanning electronic microscopy
with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and inductively coupled plasma mass
spectrometry (ICP-MS) were used as structural and analytical techniques for the study of PdNi5
alloy dealloying in 0.5M sulfuric acid at three different anodic potentials.

characterization of printed circuit boards is significant for choosing the optimal
processing procedure. The aim of this research was the physico-chemical characterization of the
boards and the separated fractions after cutting on a shredder and magnetic separation. Separated
fractions (metal granulate, magnetic fraction, and plastic) were leached in three consecutive phases
by use of sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and aqua regia. The experiments were performed on the
fractions obtained by processing 100 kg of the sample and were compared with the results obtained by the chemical analysis of the sample obtained by manually unfolding 10 PCBs. Also, the grain size analysis of each separated fraction was determined.

AB - This paper present the results of defining the mathematical model which describes the dependence
of tensile strength from the influential input parameters, aimed at developing non-toxic alloys that
could completely respond to the requirements in traffic networks electrification by replacing the
currently used Cu-Cd alloy system. The use of Cu-Cd alloys system is always resulting in many
environmental problems. Mathematical model is defined using the enter MLRA method, resulted in
a linear model whose coefficient of determination was R2=0.826. Validation of the acquired model
was performed using the data from the laboratory investigation that are not used when defining the
model, rendering the same statistical reliability, with R2=0.815.

of tensile strength from the influential input parameters, aimed at developing non-toxic alloys that
could completely respond to the requirements in traffic networks electrification by replacing the

AB - This study investigates the electrochemical stability of the gold complex based on mercaptotriazole at an optimum pH of nine in the electrolyte with a gold concentration of 2.5 g dm−3. The stability of the complex was studied by visual monitoring and electrochemical characterization of electrolytes over a period of 1 year. Electrochemical characterization of the mercaptotriazole gold complex was performed using open circuit potential measurement, cyclic voltammetry, recording the polarization curves, pH, and conductivity of the electrolyte. Electrochemical characteristics and visual appearance of the mercaptotriazole gold complex at a pH ~ 9 were not significantly changed for one year, with no changes in its visual appearance. The results of this study are important for industrial applications in order to replace cyanide electrolytes with a stable organic complex.

AB - This work is aimed to characterize the gold complexes using the electron spray ionization (ESI), and atmospheric solids analysis probe (ASAP), tandem quadrupole mass spectrometer (TQD). It is demonstrated here that the use of the ASAP is more suitable than the ESI for a rapid analysis of the gold coatings in the solid and liquid state. The mass spectra indicate that mercaptotriazole and glycine can coordinate with the gold ion and to build complexes such as [Au-2MT-Gly] and [Au-2MT-2Gly].

AB - Urea-formaldehyde resin (UF) is primarily used as an adhesive applied in the wood composites industry. In this work, we found that this resin modified with metal compounds could be a good starting point to produce high-performance electrode material applied for the construction of electrochemical sensor for important antioxidant, such as caffeic acids (CA). The conductivity of carbon paste electrodes (CPE) modified by materials produced by thermolysis of in situ synthesized urea formaldehyde resins with Fe(III) and Ti(IV) compounds (mixed metal compounds and individually) were examined. For comparison, pure CPE and CPE modified with material produced from the physical mixture of UF resins and metal compounds in the same combinations were also electrochemically characterized by impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The most conductive material, which consists of a combination of metal oxide particles in situ synthesized with UF (SynFe+Ti/UF-TP@CPE), was used as a CPE modifier and proved itself in sensitive differential pulse voltammetric determination of caffeic acid at a wide working range of 0.5-100 and limit of detection of 0.046 μM. The proposed electrode was successfully applied for the determination of the content of CA in spiked urine samples and the estimation of total phenol content, based on CA equivalents, of honey, liqueur and juice samples.

AB - The aim of this work was to investigate the stability of the gold complex based on mercaptotriazole at optimum pH value of nine in the electrolyte with gold concentration of 1.5 g/dm3. Investigations were performed by visual monitoring and electrochemical characterization of electrolytes over the period of four months. The first visible signs of the decomposition of the complex were appeared one month after synthesis. Electrochemical characterization of gold complex base on mercaptotriazole performed by the open circuit potential measurement, cycling voltammetry method, and recording the polarization curves, with pH of the electrolyte measurement before and after each electrochemical experiment, showed that all the recorded characteristics remained almost unchanged for a period of four months.

AB - In this paper, changes in the mechanical properties of Pd-5Ni alloy are analysed after recrystallisation annealing in order to determine the optimal conditions for a thermomechanical processing regime for this alloy. The temperature and annealing time were varied and the resulting changes in hardness, tensile strength, relative elongation and proof strength were monitored. By using the simplex-lattice method and analysing experimental data, a fourth degree mathematical model-regression polynomial was defined and isolines of changes in the mechanical properties of the investigated alloys were designed depending on the conditions of heat treatment after rolling.

AB - We investigated the effects of natural seawater on the corrosion of an Ag43Cu37Zn20 alloy. The alloy was a commercial brazing filler alloy of composition (BS1845:1984 Ag5) and belongs to the class of Cd-free silver brazing alloys. The Ag-Cu-Zn system is corrosion resistant in chloride solutions has not been widely examined. In this study, the corrosion behavior of the alloy has been investigated using the open circuit potential measurements, Tafel plots and anodic potentiodynamic curves. By comparing different samples of marine water indicates that salinity is the primary influence on corrosion behavior near the open circuit potential. At higher anodic potentials, the impact of mineral composition becomes significant.

AB - The surface reconstruction on rhodium-platinum catalyst gauzes has been examined using the scanning electron microscope techniques. The nucleation and growth of large cage-like features, developed on the gauze surfaces during operation in the ammonia oxidation process, were studied in detail. It is concluded that a vapor phase mechanism involving transport of platinum oxide is responsible for the observed reaction, and the reason why this process operates only over a limited range of temperature and pressure is explained. Some comments are also made on the related reconstruction observed on gauzes, used during the production of hydrogen cyanide by the Andrussow process.

AB - Recovery of gold and other valuable metals from electronic scrap involves a complex metallurgical flow sheet and requires state-of-the-art recovery technologies that are available in large-scale, integrated smelter and refinery operations. At the end of their use, electronic and other electrical product scrap offer an important recycling potential for the secondary supply of gold and silver into the market. With gold concentrations reaching 200-250 g/t for computer circuit boards, this scrap is an 'urban mine' that is significantly richer in gold than the sources of the primary ores today. This paper gives methods of gold and silver recovery from printed circular board. The methods of purification are given and they separate gold from the impurities (tin, copper and nickel). The obtained gold and silver have 99.99% quality.
