AB - Electrochemical Energy Storage (EES) technologies are playing a significant role in the aspirations to decrease the usage of fossil fuels and move toward an environmentally conscious society. Due to the importance of EES technologies, more researchers are looking for an efficient and effective electrode material, which is the most important part of the EES system that possibly could result in much-needed advancements in the field. However, incoming researchers have a diverse backgrounds and as newcomers to the electrochemical community, they sometimes lack familiarity with the core concepts, well-established procedures, and methodologies that define the standards of the discipline. This issue's importance has been acknowledged, and various publications have been written to guide researchers in doing accurate evaluations. However, to the best of our knowledge, even though these publications demonstrate the methodologies and procedures for approaching the existing challenges none of them address the offered topic with an actual example. To address this gap, we present a step-by-step procedure for the electrochemical analysis of polypyrrole, a widely utilized conducting polymer with significant potential as an electrode material for supercapacitors and batteries.

AB - The objective of this research was to improve antioxidative properties of egg-white proteins by means of enzymatic hydrolysis. For this purpose a continuous stirred tank reactor including polyethersulfone ultrafiltration module with a molecular weight cut-off of 10 kDa was employed. Several proteolytic enzymes have been tested in order to obtain best quality of peptide-based formulations intended for human consumption. Amongst proteases form Bacillus licheniformis (Alcalase), protease form Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (Neutrase) and protease from papaya latex (papain), the highest degree of hydrolysis (DH), as well as the best antioxidative properties of obtained hydrolysates, were achieved with Alcalase. Further optimization included finding of the
optimal enzyme concentration and residence time. Results showed that the DH was directly dependent upon the enzyme concentration, while the permeate flow did not show any influence on the DH. The reactor was maintained in operation for 3 h at 50 °C and pH 8 with permeate flow of 2 cm3 min-1. Degree of hydrolysis reached steady value of 60 % after 75 min. Antioxidative properties were analyzed with DPPH method and confirmed with linear sweep voltammetry. Results undoubtedly show that the obtained products have improved antioxidative properties compared to untreated egg-white proteins.

AB - The electrochemical synthesis of polyaniline (PANI) on mild steel, aluminum and copper from the sodium benzoate solutions has been investigated. It has been shown that thin, highly adherent, polyaniline films on the investigated metals could be obtained by anodic oxidation with current densities in the range of 0.5 and 1.5 mA cm-2. The corrosion behavior of mild steel, aluminum and copper with polyaniline coating in 0.5 mol dm3 NaCl (pH 3) solutions, has been investigated by polarization technique. The corrosion current densities, porosity and protection efficiency was determined. It has been shown that polyaniline coating provided corrosion protection of all mentioned metals.

AB - The catalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) of Ni/WC composites obtained by electrochemicaldeposition of nickel from a conventional Watt’s bath, using two different ways of depositing the WC particles, wasinvestigated. All the composite coatings exhibited electrocatalytic activity for the HER larger than that of pure Ni inboth alkaline and acid solution. The activity increased with increasing content of WC in the coating and, in thepulsed current regime, with increasing frequency of pulsation. In addition, coatings with smaller particles incorporatedexhibited higher activity than those with larger particles. At a constant potential, an order of magnitudehigher current densities were obtained in some cases.
