The gelatinization of nitrocellulose by primary stabilizers

AB  - The examination results of the gelatinization of nitrocellulose gunpowders, stabilized by different stabilizers are described in this study. The microstructure of gunpowder samples of different chemical compositions is analyzed by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Apart from the three-dimensional picture of morphology and the effect of the molecular dispersion of stabilizers into the nitrocellulose matrix, the in­formation on chemical composition of the surface of gunpowder grain was obtained by the use of energy-dispersive X-rays spectrometry on SEM (SEM/EDX). The aim of the research was the comparative analysis of three different gunpowder samples, and the estimation of the effect on the gelatinization of nitrocellulose by different stabilizers was performed including their separate influences on the chemical stability of gunpowder. The comparative analysis is based on the degree of homogenous dispersion of each stabilizer in the matrix, which has the significant positive influence on the stability of gunpowder.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati ispitivanja želatinizacije nitroceluloznih baruta, stabilisanih različitim tipovima stabilizatora. Pomoću skenirajuće elektronske mikroskopije (Scanning Electron Microscopy, SEM) ispitivana je mikrostruktura uzoraka baruta različitog hemijskog sastava. Pored trodimenzionalne slike topografije i učinka molekularne disperzije stabilizatora u matricu nitroceluloze, pomoću metode energetske diperzije X-zraka (Energy-Dispersive X-Rays Spectroscopy - EDX) dobijena je informacija o kvantitativnom i kvalitativnom hemijskom sastavu ispitivanog dela površine barutnog zrna. Na osnovu komparativne analize, izvršena je ocena efekta želatinizacije nitroceluloze različitim tipovima stabilizatora i njihov pojedinačni uticaj na hemijsku stabilnost baruta.

The morphology of cavitation damage of heat-treated medium carbon steel

AB  - In this paper the morphology of the cavitation damage to heat-treated medium carbon steel was analyzed. The experiments were conducted using a modified vibratory cavitation test set up. The erosion rates were measured by an analytical method. The morphology of the cavitation damage was studied by the scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy techniques. The present work was aimed at understanding the cavitation erosion behavior of heat-treated medium carbon steel under laboratory conditions. The results indicate that the heat-treated medium carbon steel is not to be recommended for the production of hydraulic machinery parts exposed to high hydrodynamic intensity.
AB  - U radu je analizirana morfologija kavitacionog oštećenja srednje-ugljeničnog čelika u poboljšanom stanju. Eksperiment je vođen primenom modificirane ultrazvučne metode. Stepen kavitacionog oštećenja je meren klasičnom analitičkom hemijskom metodom. Morfologija oštećenja nastalog dejstvom kavitacije praćena je skening elektronskim mikroskopom i svetlosnim mikroskopom. Cilj ovog rada je bilo tumačenje kavitacionog erozionog ponašanja srednje-ugljeničnog čelika u poboljšanom stanju u laboratorijskim uslovima. Dobijeni rezultati pokazali su da primena srednje-ugljeničnog čelika u poboljšanom stanju nije preporučljiva u proizvodnji elemenata hidrauličnih mašina izloženih ekstremnim hidrauličnim uslovima.

AB  - This paper examines the possibility of the application of multizone furnace, i.e. universal multizone crystallizator furnace in obtaining germanijum (Ga added) single crystal using electronic Bridgman-Stocbarger method. As a result of a proper control of furnace parameters and of the control of basic crystalization process parameters a single crystal with the extraordinary high homogeneity degree has been obtained, in both axial and radial direction.
AB  - U ovom radu ispitivana je mogućnost primene multizonske peći, odnosno univerzalnog multizonskog kristalizatora za dobijanje monokristala germanijuma sa dodatkom galijuma, pri čemu je korišćena elektronska Bridgman-Stocbarger metoda. Kao rezultat dobre kontrole parametara peći, a time i osnovnih parametara procesa kristalizacije, dobijen je monokristal sa izuzetno visokim stepenom homogenosti u aksijalnom i radijalnom pravcu.
