Solidification of Fe19Cr2.9C2V alloy

AB  - The addition of 2% V affects the solidification process and changes the transformation characteristics of austenite in hypoeutectic white cast iron containing 19% Cr and 2.9% C. DTA analysis reveals that vanadium reduces the solidification temperature interval in tested alloy. The narrowing of the solidification temperature interval and the formation of vanadium carbides favours the appearance of a finer structure. Also, the phases volume fraction changes, i.e. the primary γ-phase fraction decreases and the amount of M7C3 carbide increases. Further, changes in conditions of solidification, influence the change in composition of austenite. Type and degree of transformation of austenite in the course of cooling after solidification in these alloys depend on chemical composition of austenite.

The mechanism and kinetics of the tungsten (VI)-oxide reduction in the vertical tube reactor

AB  - Presented study shows the analysis of the process of reduction of WO3 powder with hydrogen in the vertical tube reactor, representing a new approach in comparison to the conventional methods in the horizontal tube reactor. SEM analysis of the synthetisized tungsten powder shows the existence of particles, approximately 1μm in size, both individual ones and those within the porous agglomerates with a spongy structure. In order to study the mechanism and kinetics of the reduction process, the reduction degree and retention time of particles of WO3 powder in the reaction zone were calculated using a developed mathematical model, based on the application of Stokes' law. Kinetic parameters and activation energies were determined at the corresponding temperature intervals. Kinetic analysis showed that the process of WO3 reduction with hydrogen in the vertical tube reactor in the temperature interval from 700 to 900oC occurs in the kinetic zone. Activation energy for the temperature interval from 700 to 800oC is Ea1=7.5±0.1kJ/mol, where as for the temperature interval from 800 to 900oC, activation energy is Ea2=14.6±0.1kJ/mol. A model was proposed describing the mechanism of the reduction process in the vertical tube reactor according to which particles of tungsten powder 1μm in size arise from the stretching and cracking of coarse particles in the reduction zone, as well as from the appropriate temperature shock outside this zone.

AB  - This paper presents the production of sintered materials from nano-composite powders obtained by a novel synthesis method, which represents a combination of thermochemical synthesis and mechanical alloying. Produced powders were characterized by an average individual particle size of 30nm, with the presence of a small number of aggregates with a size of 150nm. The positive effect on dispersion strengthening of the copper matrix occurred up to 1 wt.% Al2O3, whereas a further increase of the Al2O3 content showed a negative effect on hardness. The new synthesis method is more suiTab. for composite materials containing maximum 1wt.% Al2O3. By this novel method it is possible to produce composites possessing a good combination of hardness and electrical conductivity.
AB  - U ovom radu je predstavljena proizvodnja sinterovanih materijala iz nano kompozita dobijenih novom metodom sinteze, koja predstavlja kombinaciju termo-hemijske sinteze i mehaničkog legiranja. Proizvedeni prahovi se karakterišu srednjom veličinom pojedinačnih čestica od 30nm, sa malim prisustvom aglomerata srednje veličine od 150nm. Pozitivni efekti disperznog ojačavanja se postižu dodatkom do 1 tež.% Al2O3, gde se sa daljim porastom sadržaja Al2O3 uočavaju negativni efekti na tvrdoću materijala. Nova metoda sinteze je pogodna za proizvodnju materijala koji maksimalno sadrže 1 tež.% Al2O3. Ovom metodom sinteze je moguće proizvesti kompozite sa dobrom kombinacijom tvrdoće i električne provodljivosti.

The effect of heat treatment on toughness and wear resistance of Fe-Cr-C-Nb alloys

AB  - Alloying with niobium improves the mechanical properties of the high chromium irons. The alloy containing appriximately 3 %Nb gives the best compromise between wear resistance and toughness. These properties were improved as a result of the positive influence of niobium on the microstructure, especially in the formation of nodular-shaped niobium carbides and the morphological changes of eutectic M7C3 carbides due to the presence of niobium. The fracture toughness of the high-temperature heat treated tested alloys was lower than that of the as-cast alloys because the matrix containing a considerable amount of martensite did not effectively prevent the crack propagation.
AB  - Legiranje niobijumom poboljšava mehanička svojstva visokohromnih gvožđa u livenom stanju. Legura koja sadrži približno 3% Nb ima dobru kombinaciju otpornosti na habanje i žilavosti. Ove osobine su poboljšane kao rezultat pozitivnog uticaja niobijuma na mikrostrukturu, posebno na formiranje nodularnog oblika niobijum karbida i morfoliških promena eutektičkog M7C3 karbida usled prisustva niobijuma. Žilavost ispitivanih legura nakon visokotemperaturnog termičkog tretmana je manja negu u livenom stanju, zato što metalna osnova koja sadrži značajnu količinu martenzita nije dovoljno efikasna u sprečavanju širenja prsline.

AB  - In this paper, the influence of titanium and cerium on the microstructure and properties of Fe-C-Cr-Nb alloys are examined, in both as-cast and heat treated state. These elements affect the crystallisation process of Fe-C-Cr-Nb alloys and the transformation of austenite during the cooling process after solidification. Titanium changed the morphology of NbC carbides. Further, in the austenite of the examined Fe-C-Cr-Nb-Ti alloys, very fine particles of precipitated secondary carbide can be seen. The alloy containing 0,28%Ti and 0,19%Ce has martensite-perlite-austenitic matrix microstructure in as-cast condition. Adding titanium and cerium to Fe-C-Cr-Nb alloys will also changed its properties, since the properties of alloys depend on their microstructure.
AB  - U ovom radu ispitivan je uticaj titana i cerijuma na mikrostrukturu i svojstva Fe-C-Cr-Nb legura, u livenom stanju i nakon termičkog tretmana. Ovi elementi utiču na proces kristalizacije Fe-C-Cr-Nb legura, kao i na transformaciju austenita u toku daljeg hlađenja nakon očvršćavanja. Titan menja morfologiju NbC karbida. Osim toga, u austenitu ispitivanih Fe-C-Cr-Nb-Ti legura zapažaju se vrlo fine čestice sekundarnog karbida. Legura koja sadrži 0,28%Ti i 0,19%Ce ima martenzitno-perlitno-austenitnu mikrostrukturu osnove u livenom stanju. Titan i cerijum utiču i na svojstva Fe-C-Cr-Nb legura, budući da svojstva legura zavise od njihove strukture.

AB  - The influence of texturing parameters, such as draw ratio and heater temperature, on characteristics and dyeing behaviour of polyamide 66 yam has. been studied. It is observed that the draw ratio and heater temperature have negligible influence on dye exhaustion, but they both markedly influence the dyeing kinetics. This has been measured by apparent diffusion coefficients and discussed on the basis of crystallinity and degree of orientation data.
