AB  - The river Veliki Lug originates under the Kosmaj, flows through the municipalities and settlements Sopot and Mladenovac, and flows into the river Kubršnica near village Ratari in the Smederevska Palanka municipality. Waters of the river Veliki Lug are polluted by industrial and sanitary waste waters as well as waters from many landfills at the coastal area. Before Mladenovac the waters of river Veliki Lug belong to the II water class, but after Mladenovac they belong to the IV water class. It is necessary to construct treatment plants for waste waters and sewer systems and also to remediate landfills at the coastal area.
AB  - Reka Veliki Lug izvire ispod Kosmaja, protiče kroz opštine i naselja Sopot i Mladenovac, a uliva se u Kubršnicu kod sela Ratari u opštini Smederevska Palanka. Vode reke Veliki Lug zagađuju se industrijskim i komunalnim otpadnim vodama kao i ocednim vodama sa brojnih deponija na priobalju. Pre Mladenovca vode ove reke pripadaju II klasi, ali posle Mladenovca već IV klasi voda. Neminovna je realizacija izgradnje postrojenja za prečišćavanje svih otpadnih voda, kanalizacionih sistema i saniranje deponija na priobalju, u skladu sa zakonskim regulativama.

AB  - In the process of refining raw materials and metal production in the metallurgical industry and mining are allocated a number of different secondary materials to be deposited. In the enrichment of the ore by flotation, in addition to metals concentrate, flotation tailings are allocated, which is stored in permanent landfill. When solving the problems of processing of deposited material, landfill rehabilitation and revitalization of the affected land should be accounted more related effects in defining the feasibility of investment projects.
AB  - U procesima prerade sirovina i proizvodnje metala izdvaja se više različitih materijala koji se deponuju. Pri obogaćivanju ruda u flotacijama, pored koncentrata metala, izdvaja se i otpadna flotaciona jalovina koja se skladišti na trajne deponije. Pri rešavanju problematike prerade deponovanih materijala, saniranja deponija i revitalizacije zemljišta trebalo bi obračunati i više pratećih efekata pri definisanju opravdanosti investicionih radova.

AB  - Analysis of water quality of the rivers Veliki Lug and Kubršnica, in the area after the bridge for Jagnjilo ie. after the territory of Mladenovac municipality till its flow into the river Jasenica on the territory of Smederevska Palanka municipality, was done in the period September-November 2010. The water samples were taken and analyzed on four measuring points along the river flow. Physicochemical analysis showed that waters of these rivers belong to IV water class on all four measuring points. The concentration of some parameters such as: nitrites, ammonium ion, phosphates, KMnO4 consumption, oxygen, COD, BOD5 and iron exceeded the maximum permissible concentration even for IV water class on some measuring points. Results of microbiological analysis showed that the Most Probable Number (MPN) in 1 l was 240,000 on all measuring points which classify these waters into IV water class, except in November when the MPN decreased to 96,000 which corresponds to II water class. Also, identified pathogen bacteria indicate dominant fecal contamination from households and agricultural farms.
AB  - U periodu septembar-novembar 2010. godine izvršeno je ispitivanje kvaliteta vode reka Veliki Lug i Kubršnica, u delu posle mosta za Jagnjilo tj. posle teritorije opštine Mladenovac do ušća u Jasenicu, na teritoriji opštine Smederevska Palanka. Izvršene su fizičko-hemijske i mikrobiološke analize uzoraka vode na četiri merna mesta duž rečnog toka. Fizičko-hemijske analize pokazale su da vode ovih reka na sva četiri mesta pripadaju IV klasi boniteta. Na pojedinim mernim mestima, vrednosti fizičko-hemijskih parametara kao što su: nitriti, amonijum jon, fosfati, utrošak KMnO4, rastvoreni kiseonik, HPK, BPK5 i gvožđe, su bile iznad maksimalno dozvoljenih vrednosti (MDK) čak i za IV klasu voda. Rezultati mikrobioloških analiza pokazuju da je na svim mernim mestima najverovatniji broj koliformnih bakterija (MPN) u 1l iznosio 240.000 što svrstava ove vode u IV klasu boniteta, osim u novembru kada je taj broj opao na 96.000 što odgovara II klasi boniteta. Takođe, identifikovane patogene bakterijske vrste ukazuju na dominantno fekalno zagađenje domaćinstava i poljoprivrednih farmi.

The electrochemical synthesis of different Ag/PVP nanocomposites

AB  - The potential use of Ag/poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) nanocomposites is in wound dressings or soft tissue implants, where Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) serve as the antimicrobial agent. Ag/PVP nanocomposites were electrochemically synthesized, by the electrochemical reduction of Ag+ ions into the AgNPs in the PVP aqueous solution and within the crosslinked PVP matrix, forming the non-crosslinked and crosslinked Ag/PVP nanocomposite, respectively. The synthesis of AgNPs was performed in an electrochemical cell with Pt working and counter electrodes and the saturated calomel electrode (SCE) as the reference. The non-crosslinked Ag/PVP nanocomposite was obtained by galvanostatic reduction of Ag+ ions from the aqueous solution consisted of 0.10 M KNO3, 3.9 mM AgNO3 and 10 wt. % PVP. The crosslinked Ag/PVP nanocomposite was obtained by in situ potentiostatic reduction of Ag+ ions within PVP hydrogel, previously prepared by -irradiation of the 10 wt. % PVP aqueous solution. Hydrogels were swollen in two different aqueous solutions ((a) 3.9 mM AgNO3, (b) 3.9 mM AgNO3 + 0.10 M KNO3) for 24 h. Ag/PVP nanocomposite systems were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, TEM, XRD, Z-sizer analysis and cyclic voltammetry.

Photovoltaics of sol-gel processed titanium oxide coating

AB  - Titanium oxide is applied as a photocatalyst in organic synthesis and for waste water treatment and outdoor air purification. In this work, photoelectrochemical (PEC) activity of titanium oxide coating on titanium substrate, prepared by the sol–gel procedure from the oxide sol obtained by forced hydrolysis of chloride was investigated. Electrochemical and PEC parameters at photoelectrode change intensively upon UV illumination when organic compounds (alcohols, aldehydes, acids, etc.) are present in the electrolyte (H2SO4), which proves coating activity for their oxidation. Electrochemical impedance (EIS) characteristics of the coating are found to be sensitive to the photoelectrode potential and UV light. EIS characteristics are discussed on the basis of the values of parameters of equivalent electrical circuit used to fit experimental impedance data.

AB  - Hydrogel nanocomposites of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and crosslinked poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) were synthesized in situ by a novel electrochemical method. PVPhydrogels, crosslinked by gamma-irradiation, were swollen in the solution containing0.1 M KNO3 and 3.9 mM AgNO3. PVP polymer matrix nanocavities were used asnanoreactors for AgNPs synthesis. The reduction of silver cations was performed usingtwo-Pt-electrode electrochemical cell. The polarity of the electrodes was changed on thehalf of the implementation time, enabling the Ag+ ions reduction in the bulk. Cyclicvoltammetry (CV) was performed in a three-electrode electrochemical cell, using thesaturated calomel electrode (SCE) as a reference. Ag/PVP nanocomposites werescanned by CV immediately after the synthesis and after drying followed by reswelling in0.1 M KNO3. Ag/PVP was compared with CVs of the following systems: Pt electrode in0.1 M KNO3; Pt/PVP system in 0.1 M KNO3; Ag/Pt system in 0.1 M KNO3 + 3.9 mMAgNO3 solution.

Alkali-lead deposits of lead refinery 'Trepča' and their influence on Ibar's waters

AB  - Besides lead as basic metal, flotation lead concentrates contain several accompanied metals, such as: copper, zinc, iron, antimony, silver, gold, bismuth and arsenic. Raw lead and slag are obtained by agglomeration roasting of concentrates and then reduction smelting of agglomerates in blust furnaces. Iron and zinc go from concentrates to the blust furnaces slag and copper, antimony, silver, gold, bismuth and arsenic mostly pass into raw lead which will be refined later. The process of raw lead refining consists of the following steps: - copper is separated from lead by the effect of sulphur and copper drosses are obtained, - antimony and arsenic are separated by the effect of caustic soda and saltpeter and alkali As-Sb drosses are obtained, - silver, gold and bismuth are separated from lead by special treatments in which alkali deposits are not formed. Copper drosses are refined by alkali treatment in reverberatory furnaces and raw lead, Pb-Cu matte and speiss are obtained, as well as waste slag which goes to the deposit. As-Sb drosses are refined in short drum furnaces and raw lead and Pb-Sb alloy are obtained, as well as waste slag which goes to the deposits. Waste alkali-lead slags which deposit in the direct vicinity of Ibar, contain the following components: - small particle of lead and antimony, as well as oxide of these metals, - sodium, arsenic and bismuth oxides, - copper, sodium and lead sulfides. Reverberatory furnaces slags contain: 8-16% Pb, 5-15% Na, 10-15% Cu, and short drum furnaces slags contain: 1-5% Pb, 20-28% Na, 1-5% Sb, 1-4% As. Both these slags are hygroscopic, they decompose gradually, spill and pollute the waters of Ibar through surface waters during rainfall. The solution of the problems of these slags lies in more technological-ecological and investment-developing proceedings and that is necessary in keeping with law regulations. .
AB  - Pored olova kao osnovnog metala, flotacioni koncentrati olova sadrže više pratećih metala od kojih su značajni sledeći: bakar, cink, železo, antimon, srebro, zlato, bizmut i arsen. Aglomeracionim prženjem koncentrata, a zatim redukcionim topljenjem aglomerata u šahtnim pećima, dobija se sirovo olovo i šljaka. Železo i cink iz koncentrata prelaze u šljaku šahtnih peći koja se deponuje, a bakar, antimon, srebro, zlato, bizmut i arsen, uglavnom prelaze u sirovo olovo, koje se zatim rafiniše. Rafinacija sirovog olova vrši se u više tehnoloških operacija, prema sledećem redosledu: - bakar se iz olova uklanja pomoću sumpora pri čemu se dobijaju bakarni šlikeri i prašine, - antimon i arsen se uklanjaju pomoću sode i šalitre pri čemu se dobijaju alkalni As-Sb šlikeri, - srebro, zlato i bizmut se uklanjaju iz olova specifičnim postupcima u kojima se ne izdvajaju alkalne deponije. Bakarni šlikeri se prerađuju alkalnim postupkom u plamenim pećima pri čemu se dobijaju sirovo olovo, Pb-Cu kamen i špajza, ali i otpadna šljaka koja se deponuje. As-Sb šliker se prerađuje u kratko-bubnjastim pećima pri čemu se dobijaju sirovo olovo, Pb-Sb legura i otpadna šljaka koja se deponuje. Obe šljake su higroskopne, vremenom se raspadaju, rasipaju, a pri atmosferski padavinama, preko površinskih voda, zagađuju vode Ibra. Rešenje problematike ovih šljaka sastoji iz više tehnološko-ekoloških investiciono-razvojnih zahvata, a što je neophodno u skladu sa zakonskim regulativama. .

AB  - Lead ores and concentrates always have significant content of silver and copper. During the process of lead bullion refining these two metals are separated and concentrated into the intermediates which have special technological treatments of processing. Copper intermediates always have high content of silver, therefore the value of present silver effects on techno-economic justification of processing certain copper intermediate. The value of commercial silver and copper products significantly effects on financial affairs of lead Refinery and Smeltery.
AB  - Rude i koncentrati olova uvek imaju značajan sadržaj srebra i bakra, a u procesu rafinacije sirovog olova ova dva metala se izdvajaju i koncentrišu u međuprodukte koji imaju specifične tehnološke postupke prerade. Međuprodukti bakra uvek imaju visok sadržaj srebra, pa vrednost prisutnog srebra često diriguje tehno-ekonomsku opravdanost procesa prerade konkretnog međuprodukta bakra. Vrednost komercijalnih proizvoda srebra i bakra bitno utiču na finansijsko poslovanje Topionice i Rafinerije olova.

AB  - In Serbia there were several polimetal ores deposits from which silver was exploited during ancient times and middle ages. Large silver production in middle ages, during Nemanjić dynasty, contributed to development and power of Serbia. In that time Novo Brdo was one of the largest European cities. After the arrival of Turks and after many wars, exploitation of mines gradually was decreasing in Serbia, and at the beginning of XVIII century completely stopped.
AB  - U Srbiji ima više nalazišta polimetalnih ruda iz kojih se eksploatisalo srebro u starom i srednjem veku. Visoka proizvodnja srebra u srednjem veku, u doba dinastije Nemanjića, dosta je doprinela razvoju i moći tadašnje Srbije. U to vreme Novo Brdo je bio jedan od većih evropskih gradova. Activity and stability of RuO2-coated titanium anodes prepared via the alkoxide route

AB  - Titanium anodes with an active RuO2 coating of two different thicknesses were prepared from the oxide suspended in ethanol ("ink" method), while the oxide itself was synthesized by the hydrolysis of ruthenium ethoxide in an ethanolic solution (alkoxide route). The morphology of prepared oxide was examined by scanning electron microscopy. The electrochemical properties of the prepared Ti/RuO2 anodes, involving their cyclic voltammetric behavior in H2SO4 and NaCl solutions, activity in the chlorine and oxygen evolution reaction, impedance behavior in H2SO4, and stability during electrolysis in dilute chloride solutions, were investigated. The performances of the anodes are compared to those of a Ti/RuO2 anode prepared by the sol-gel procedure from an oxide sol obtained by the forced hydrolysis of ruthenium chloride in acid solution. The anodes prepared via the alkoxide route showed a higher capacitance and activity for the chlorine evolution reaction than the anode prepared by the inorganic sol-gel procedure. The results of the stability test showed that the utilization of the coating active material is better when the anodes were prepared via the alkoxide route than via the inorganic sol-gel procedure, particularly for anodes with a smaller mass of coating. The different rates of loss of activity indicate a degradation mechanism for the anodes prepared via the alkoxide route in which electrochemical dissolution of RuO2 from the coating surface prevails over the growth of an insulating TiO2 layer in the coating/Ti substrate interphase. The effect of RuO2 dissolution from the coating surface increases with increasing coating mass.
AB  - Titanske anode sa aktivnom prevlakom od oksida rutenijuma dve različite debljine, formirane su od oksida dobijenog hidrolizom rutenijum(III)-etoksida u etanolskom rastvoru ("ink" metoda). Morfologija dobijenog oksida ispitivana je skenirajućom elektronskom mikroskopijom. Ispitivana su elektrohemijska svojstva formiranih anoda, koja podrazumevaju ciklično-voltametrijsko ponašanje u rastvorima H 2SO4 i NaCl, aktivnost u reakcijama izdvajanja hlora i kiseonika, impedansno pona- šanje i stabilnost tokom elektrolize razblaženih rastvora hlorida. Karakteristike dobijenih anoda upoređene su sa karakteristikama anode formirane sol-gel postupkom iz oksidnog sola dobijenog forsiranom hidrolizom rutenijum(III)-hlorida u kiseloj sredini (5 mol dm-3HCl). Anode formirane alkoksidnim postupkom imaju veću kapacitivnost i aktivnost za reakciju izdvajanja hlora od anode dobijene sol-gel postupkom iz neorganskog sola. Rezultati testa stabilnosti u rastvoru hlorida pokazuju da je iskorišćenje aktivnog materijala prevlake takođe bolje kod anoda dobijenih alkoksidnim postupkom, naročito za anodu sa manjom debljinom prevlake. Rezultati ukazuju na to da u mehanizmu gubitka aktivnosti anoda dobijenih alkoksidnim postupkom elektrohemijsko rastvaranje oksida rutenijuma sa površine prevlake preovlađuje u odnosu na rast izolatorskog sloja oksida titana u međufazi prevlaka/ titanska podloga. Efekt rastvaranja RuO2 sa površine je izraženiji kod prevlake veće debljine.

KIVCET and Boliden TBRC technologies of processing of lead concentrates

AB  - From all the state-of-the-art technologies of processing lead concentrates industrial applications have found KIVCET CS and Boliden TBRC processes. In the paper, mentioned technological procedures are described with special accent on defining of smelting mechanism in KIVCET furnace. In bath cases smelting process is defined with ratic oxygen-concentrate, with which is determined content of lead in slag content of sulphur in bullion, distribution of side elements and amount of dust. Application of KIVCET CS and Boliden TBRC processes of processing of lead concentrates in industrial conditions confirmed their advantages comparing classical way of processing by reduction in shaft furnace.
AB  - Od savremenih postupaka prerade olovnih koncentrata značajniju industrijsku primenu su našli KIVCET CS i Boliden TBRC postupci. U ovom radu su opisani pomenuti tehnološki postupci, sa posebnim osvrtom na definisanje mehanizma topljenja u KIVCET peći. U oba slučaja je proces topljenja definisan odnosom kiseonik-koncentrat, čime je određen i sadržaj olova u šljaci, sadržaj sumpora u buljonu, distribucija sporednih elemenata i količina stvorene prašine. Primena KIVCET CS i Boliden TBRC postupaka prerade olovnih koncentrata u industrijskim uslovima je potvrdila njihove prednosti u odnosu na klasičan način prerade redukcionim topljenjem u šahtnoj peći.

AB  - Preparation of RuOxHy/carbon black nanocomposite material was performed by the impregnation method starting from RuOxHy sol as a precursor. Black Pearls 2000(R) (BP) and Vulcan(R) XC-72 R (XC) were used as supporting materials. Samples of the composite were calcined in nitrogen atmosphere at temperatures from 130 to 450 degreesC. Chemical and structural characterization of the precursor and the composites was performed by using energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (EDXRFS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). These techniques showed that the oxide impregnated into carbon support is hydrous and amorphous. The amorphous structure is maintained if the composite is calcined up to 300 degreesC, while the lowintensity peak at 2theta position that corresponds to the most intensive peak of the rutile structure was registered at 450 degreesC. The capacitance of the composite was determined using cyclic voltammetry. It was found that the capacitance is dependent on calcination temperature and surface area of the carbon black support. The highest specific capacitance of about 700 F g(-1) of composite was registered for RuOxHy supported on BP and calcined at 300 degreesC while four times lower values was obtained for RuOxHy supported on XC. The capacitance measurements indicated that XC-supported RuOXHy composite is highly porous while BP-supported one is more compact.

The role of the concentration profile of titanium oxide on the electrochemical behavior of RuO2-TiO2 coatings obtained by the sol-gel procedure

AB  - In order to understand the role of TiO2 in the deactivation mechanism of an active RuO2–TiO2 coating, an additional TiO2 layer was introduced in the support coating interphase of regular Ti//[RuO2–TiO2 anode in one case and on the surface of the coating in the other. The electrochemical behavior of these, with TiO2 enriched, anodes was compared with the behavior of anodes with regular RuO2–TiO2 coatings, which were subjected to an accelerated stability test. A high-frequency semicircle in the complex plane plot obtained by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, for a regular RuO2–TiO2 coating corresponds to TiO2 enrichment in the coating as a consequence of anode corrosion. In the case of the coatings with additional TiO2 layers, a high-frequency semicircle was not observed. The additional TiO2 layers increase the coating overall resistance and influence the coating impedance behavior at low frequencies. Similar equivalent electrical circuits were used to analyze the impedance behavior of coatings having an additional TiO2 layer at different position within RuO2–TiO2 coating.
AB  - U cilju ispitivanja uloge titan-oksida u deaktivaciji RuO2–TiO2 prevlake na titanskoj podlozi, ispitivane su osobine anoda sa dodatnim slojem TiO2 u međufazi podloga prevlaka, odnosno na površini prevlake. Elektrohemijsko ponašanje ovih upoređeno je sa ponašanjem anoda sa uobičajenom RuO2–TiO2 prevlakom, kao i sa onima koje su bile podvrgnute ubrzanom testu stabilnosti. Pojava polukruga u visoko-frekventnoj oblasti u dijagramima u kompleksnoj ravni, koja je registrovana spektroskopijom elektrohemijske impedancije za uobičajene RuO2–TiO2 prevlake, a koja je posledica obogaćivanja prevlake sa TiO2 tokom njene deaktivacije, nije uočena kod anoda sa dodatim TiO2 slojem. Dodati TiO2 slojevi povećavaju omsku otpornost prevlake i utiču na impedancijsko ponašanje pri niskim frekvencijama. Za analizu impedancijskog ponašanja prevlaka sa dodatim TiO2 slojevima kao i uobičajenih RuO2–TiO2 prevlaka koje su deaktivirane korišćena su slična ekvivalentna električna kola.

Pojava polukruga u visoko-frekventnoj oblasti u dijagramima u kompleksnoj ravni, koja je registrovana spektroskopijom elektrohemijske impedancije za uobičajene RuO2–TiO2 prevlake, a koja je posledica obogaćivanja prevlake sa TiO2 tokom njene deaktivacije, nije uočena kod anoda sa dodatim TiO2 slojem. Dodati TiO2 slojevi povećavaju omsku otpornost prevlake i utiču na impedancijsko ponašanje pri niskim frekvencijama. Za analizu impedancijskog ponašanja prevlaka sa dodatim TiO2 slojevima kao i uobičajenih RuO2–TiO2 prevlaka koje su deaktivirane korišćena su slična ekvivalentna električna kola.",

AB  - The influence of the addition of methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol to the dispersing medium of a mixture of RuO2 and TiO2 sols on the electrochemically active surface area for proton exchange, as well as on the electrocatalytic activity for the chlorine evolution reaction (CER) of RuO2-TiO2/Ti electrode obtained by sol-gel procedure was investigated. The electrochemically active surface area was examined by cyclic voltammetry, while the analysis of the activity for the CER was performed by polarization measurements. The stability of the obtained anode coatings was also checked by an accelerated stability test. The anode properties depend on the number of C atoms in the alcohol molecule, as well as on the elapsed time between the preparation of the sols/alcohol mixture and its application onto the titanium support. The addition of alcohol increased the activity of the anodes for the CER, compared to those prepared without the addition, but their stability was smaller.
AB  - U radu je ispitivan uticaj metanola, etanola, 1-propanola i 2-propanola, dodatih u disperznu sredinu RuO2-TiO2 smeše solova, na elektrohemijski aktivnu površinu i elektrokatalitičku aktivnost za reakciju izdvajanja hlora (RIH) RuO2-TiO2/Ti elektroda dobijenih sol-gel postupkom. Elektrohemijski aktivna površina ispitivana je metodom ciklične voltametrije, dok je aktivnost za RIH ispitivana polarizacionim merenjima. Takođe je i ubrzanim testom stabilnosti ispitivana postojanost dobijenih oksidnih prevlaka. Utvrđeno je da osobine dobijenih anoda zavise od broja ugljenikovih atoma u molekulu dodatog alkohola i vremena proteklog od pripreme smeše alkohola i solova do nanošenja smeše na titanski nosač. Uočeno je da dodatak alkohola prouzrokuje povećanje aktivnosti anoda za RIH u odnosu na anode dobijene bez dodavanja alkohola. Istovremeno, anode dobijene dodavanjem alkohola su manje stabilne od anoda dobijenih bez dodavanja alkohola.
