AB - Providing structural information on drug-like compounds is a significant step in efforts to develop innovative drugs with balanced solubility, cell permeability and target binding. In this paper, a new cyclohexane-5-spirohydantoin tethered with a 4‑tert-butylbenzoyl group was synthesized and its crystal structure was determined using the single crystal X-ray diffraction. The Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to gain a preliminary insight into the proportion and nature of the intermolecular interactions in the crystal structure, while their quantitative description is further presented in terms of a systematic analysis of dimeric motifs representing different recognition modes. A combination of N–H∙∙∙O and C(sp3)–H∙∙∙O hydrogen bonds, C(sp3)–H∙∙∙π, lone-pair∙∙∙π and π∙∙∙π stacking interactions links the molecules into a bilayer having two carbonyl O atoms exposed to the exterior. Further stacking of the bilayers occurs through C(sp3)–H∙∙∙O hydrogen bonds involving these O atoms as acceptors, C(sp3)–H∙∙∙π and π∙∙∙π stacking interactions between the phenyl groups. The molecular electrostatic potential surface map reveals that the carbonyl O atoms of the hydantoin ring and the phenyl ring are electrophilic centers, while the N1–H1 group is a nucleophilic center. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies were used to semiquantitatively estimate the global reactivity descriptors suggesting the soft nature of the molecule.

AB - Three glycoside hydrolases (α-amylase, xylanase and pullulanase) were immobilized on low-cost, environmentally friendly, easily modified clay rich in beidellite. Modifications included common procedures: Na-exchange, acid activation, pillaring, pillaring followed by acid activation, and organo-modifications with chitosan. Supports were characterized by chemical analysis, low temperature N2 physisorption, X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) and Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The point of zero charge was also determined. Specific activity of different immobilizates of selected glycoside hydrolases was notably influenced by the type of chemical modification of supports. For each enzyme optimal support was chosen and storage stability was tested. α-Amylase immobilized on acid-activated support retained up to 95% of its initial specific activity of 105.6 ± 5.1 U g−1 after a testing period of 120 days. The most suitable support for xylanase was chitosan-modified beidellite with having specific activity of 90.0 ± 1.4 U g−1 which retained >50% its value after 120 days. Specific activity of pullulanase immobilized on pillared sample that was subsequently activated by acid was 44.5 ± 0.7 U g−1. Initial activity was preserved up to 33% for the same testing period. Comparing these results to the storage stability of the free enzymes that completely lost their activity for the longest period of 40 days, it can be concluded that appropriately modified beidellite- based clays could be used as suitable supports for stabilization of glycoside hydrolases. Nevertheless, further characterization of immobilizates (pH, thermal and operational stability) is needed in order to raise the suitability for larger scale processes in food industry.

AB - The anticholinergic drug, solifenacin, is frequently used for the treatment of the urological tract for urinary incontinence, and urinary frequency. The development of reliable and effective solifenacin electrochemical sensors is of great importance for the pharmaceutical industry and clinical practice. In this work, the electrochemical behavior of solifenacin succinate (SOL) was studied using three different working electrodes: gold (Au), glassy carbon (GCE) and boron-doped diamond electrode (BDDE). The cyclic voltammetric (CV) measurements performed in 0.05 M NaHCO3 indicated that the SOL oxidation process is irreversible and diffusion-controlled at all investigated working electrodes. Afterwards, the testing of SOL electrochemical stability and the possibility of its electrochemical degradation was performed at the Au electrode by the cycling of the potential during 3 h and continuously to 6 h. It was shown that the SOL was electrochemically transformed into another electroactive species and its degradation was excluded. For electroanalytical application, the anodically pretreated BDDE (+2.0 V; 30 s) was selected. Various experimental parameters were optimized, including the pH of the aqueous Britton-Robinson (B-R) buffer as a supporting electrolyte (from pH 2.0 to 11.98) and the most intensive peak of the target analyte was at pH 11.0, so this pH value was chosen as the optimum for further measurements. Based on the correlation of the SOL peak intensity and different concentrations, the developed differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) method was characterized by a linear concentration range from 0.041 to 2.50 µM, with a correlation coefficient of 0.999, and a relative standard deviation of 0.3 %. Taking into account the sensitivity of the developed DPV method towards the electrochemical oxidation of SOL, a very low detection limit of 0.012 µM in the model system was achieved. The BDDE showed adequate selectivity for SOL in the presence of the investigated interferents. The obtained results indicate that the BDDE with an optimized DPV method could be applied for the trace-level electroanalytical determination of SOL in human urine sample with excellent recovery and reproducibility.

AB - The aim of this work was to examine the influence of polycaprolactone (PCL) as a soft segment (SS) on the surface properties of polyurethane networks (PUNs). Five PUNs with different SS content (from 10 to 50 wt%) were prepared using Boltorn® aliphatic hyperbranched polyester of the second pseudo generation and isophorone diisocyanate as components of hard segments. The structure, hydrophobicity, wettability, and swelling behavior of these PUNs were investigated. Primarily, the obtained results showed that properties of prepared PUNs strongly depend on the content of SS that is, PCL. It has been established that the increase of SS content reduced the degree of hydrogen bonding in PUNs. Also, the increase of the SS content in PUNs induced appearance of more pronounced microphase separated morphology, better hydrophobicity and non-wetting with diiodomethane. Simultaneously, the increase of the SS content led to the decrease of contact angles with formamide, and surface free energy of the prepared PUNs. These PUNs show good surface properties that are required for their potential application such as coatings.

AB - The continuous industrial chemical processes are typically designed through steady-state conditions. Nevertheless, there is evidence that processes can be intensified by applying optimized forced periodic operation. Possible improvements in reactor performances caused by the implementation of forced periodic operation (FPO) can be successfully evaluated by applying a nonlinear frequency response (NFR) analysis, before experimental investigation. In this study, we will present the results of two case studies based on heterogeneously catalyzed methanol synthesis in a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). The first is an isothermal case, and the second is a more complicated and more realistic, non-isothermal case.

AB - The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of cross-linking and reinforcements in gelatin on the physico-mechanical properties of obtained composites. The gelatin-based composites cross-linked with citric acid (CA) were prepared: gelatin type B (GB) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) and novel hybrid composite GB with β-TCP and hydroxyapatite (HAp) particles, and their structure, thermal, and mechanical properties were compared with pure gelatin B samples. FTIR analysis revealed that no chemical interaction between the reinforcements and gelatin matrix was established during the processing of hybrid composites by the solution casting method, proving the particles had no influence on GB cross-linking. The morphological investigation of hybrid composites revealed that cross-linking with CA improved the dispersion of particles, which further led to an increase in mechanical performance. The microindentation test showed that the hardness value was increased by up to 449%, which shows the high potential of β-TCP and HAp particle reinforcement combined with CA as a cross-linking agent. Furthermore, the reduced modulus of elasticity was increased by up to 288%. Results of the MTT assay on L929 cells have revealed that the hybrid composite GB-TCP-HA-CA was not cytotoxic. These results showed that GB cross-linked with CA and reinforced with different calcium phosphates presents a valuable novel material with potential applications in dentistry.

AB - Polymer composites based on unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) and reinforced with particles based on unmodified/modifiedplant provenance biosilica particles were synthesized and characterized. An unsaturated polyester resin was obtained fromwaste poly (ethylene terephthalate (PET). Biosilaca particles are made from rice husk biomass. The surface of the producedsilica particles was modified using three different silanes: 3-trimethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate (MEMO), trimethoxyvinylsilane (TMEVS), and 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS). The microhardness test method was used to investigatethe mechanical properties of synthesized composite material with variations in dwell times and applied loads. Optimization ofcomposite microhardness value prediction in function of synthesized parameters (type of modification of silica particles) andmeasurement parameters (applied loads and dwell times) was done using the method of response surface methodology (RSM)regression analysis. The maximal microhardness values (0.459 GPa) were obtained of type modification of silica particles withvinyl with 80% confidence for 120 experimental variables. This method can be used to choose the optimal dwell time and loadfor comparison of measurements between different composite materials and to enable the choice of the material in terms ofoptimization of the quality of reinforcement and quality of interphase determined by surface modification.

AB - The increase in waste polymer recycling has helped in promoting sustainability, and together with the use of renewable raw materials, it has become a widespread concept with positive effects on both the economy and ecology. Accordingly, the aim of this study was the synthesis of “green” plasticizers, marked as LA/PG/PET/EG/LA, formed from waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and bio-based platform chemicals propylene glycol (PG) and levulinic acid (LA). The structure of the obtained plasticizers was complex, as confirmed by results from nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. The LA/PG/PET/EG/LA plasticizers and waste poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) were used in an optimized technology for PVC re-granulate production. The hardness of the PVC-based material with “green” plasticizers, in comparison to commercial plasticizer dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP), increased by 11.3%, while migration decreased. An improved material homogeneity and wettability of the fibers by the matrix were observed using SEM analysis of the material’s fracture surface, with a higher efficiency of intermolecular interactions leading to better mechanical performances of the newly designed materials. Thus, LA/PG/PET/EG/LA are unique materials with good compounding and plasticizing potential for PVC, as revealed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). In that manner, the use of bio-renewable resources and recycled polymers will contribute to diminishing waste polymer generation, contributing to a lower carbon footprint.

AB - Breaking news are usually disturbing. Natural disasters, wars, epidemics, etc., are reported as breaking news. This paper reports a decreased danger of spreading of epidemics caused by the JN.1 variant, since analyses indicate that infectivity of the new variant is decreased compared to most earlier variants, which is confirmed by the number of cases (7500 daily in USA). Moreover, JN.1, despite the great number of mutations, has not been able to achieve the values of Gibbs energy change of biosynthesis (and thus virus multiplication rate) of the Hu-1 wild type. The research shows that infectivity and pathogenicity of the JN.1 variant has not reached worrying size, which means that there is no reason to expect the epidemiologic situation getting worse.

AB - Pertussis (whooping cough) has been nearly eradicated during the 20th century, first of all due to an organized and comprehensive vaccination campaign that lasted for decades. Generations of doctors educated in Serbia (and other countries) rarely had an opportunity to see the clinical picture of pertussis. However, during 2023, the number of registered cases of pertussis in Serbia has increased several times. This is why the health authorities were forced to declare danger of an epidemic. During 2023, in Belgrade, around 1000 cases were registered. During the two months of 2024, 400 cases were registered. Some of them have ended with lethal outcome. This paper reports for the first time the biosynthesis reaction and thermodynamic properties of biosynthesis (enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs energy) of Bordetella pertussis, the cause of whooping cough. Moreover, a mechanistic model of multiplication of B. pertussis was developed. The mechanistic model was related to the pathogenesis of pertussis.

AB - The occurrence of potentially toxic elements (PTEs), including twelve heavy metal(loid)s (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, Hg, As, Co, V, Fe, Mn), fluoride (F−), and nitrate (NO3−) was evaluated in groundwater in the copper mining and smelter area of Bor city (south Carpathian, eastern Serbia). Groundwater samples were analyzed to determine the extent of pollution, identify natural and anthropogenic input of PTEs, and estimate potential human health risks due to exposure to these substances. The results revealed that the groundwater in the study area was highly contaminated with PTEs, particularly Cu and Zn. Multivariate analysis supported the natural and anthropogenic origin of PTEs, with Fe, Mn, and F− classified as naturally occurring, NO3− resulting from agricultural activities, while other PTEs were linked to smelter/mining processes. Geospatial mapping discovered several hotspots with potential high non-cancer and cancer risks to humans through ingestion pathway. From the studied PTEs, As is the most health risk contributing toxic element. The source-specific probabilistic risk assessment indicated the most significant contribution to the hazard index and total cancer risk from accidental leakage of metallurgical wastewater and wastewater from open mine pits. Monte Carlo analysis identified the human body weight and the ingestion rate as the most sensitive risk parameters. The study underscores the need for stringent environmental management measures, emphasizing the critical role of source-specific risk assessments in mitigating potential hazards associated with metallurgical wastewater and open mine pits.

AB - Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as materials with determined levels of selectivity and specificity for designated analytes have recently gained much attention in various application fields. However, with the growing adoption of green analytical chemistry (GAC) principles, it is essential to investigate the greenness of MIP synthesis and its subsequent application in sample preparation, as well as to evaluate the "green"nature of the developed analytical methodologies, such as dispersive solid-phase microextraction (DSPME). Accordingly, the main objective of this research was to evaluate the greenness of MIP-based glycidyl methacrylate synthesis and MIP use as a DSPME sorbent prior to high-performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). The green perspective of MIP-DSPME prior to HPLC-MS was investigated using various analytical metric tools such as the Analytical Eco-Scale, the Green Analytical Procedure Index, and Analytical GREEnness (AGREE). Since these analytical tools are not fully implementable for the assessment of the greenness of the MIP synthesis, some alternative approaches were used to optimize the synthesis parameters to make the MIP DSPME sorbent as close as possible to the GAC principles. The calculated AGREE score (0.62) and 91 points in the Analytical Eco-Scale for the proposed DSPME technique using MIP indicated a high level of greenness.

AB - Population growth, urbanization, industry, floods, and agriculture globally degrade groundwater in river plains, necessitating action for its quality assessment and management. Hence, a comprehensive methodology, including hydrogeochemical facies (Piper, Gibbs), irrigation indices (SAR, Wilcox), entropy-weighted water quality index (EWQI), positive matrix factorization (PMF), and Monte Carlo simulation of source-specific health risks was used in this study to analyze groundwater in the Morava river plain (Serbia). The results revealed a prevalent Ca–Mg–HCO3 groundwater type, influenced by water–rock interactions. Although groundwater was found suitable for irrigation, only 66.7 % of the samples were considered drinkable. Agricultural activities, natural processes, and municipal wastewater were identified as primary pollution sources. The incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) and hazard index (HI) threshold exceedance for adults and children ranged from 8.5 % to 39 % of the samples, with arsenic identified as the most risk-contributing contaminant. These findings provide valuable insights for researchers studying groundwater vulnerability in river plains.

AB - The corrosion behaviour of three types of alloys (two low-alloy carbon steel and one stainless iron with ~15 wt.% Cr), in a solution which simulates seawater (3% NaCl solution, pH 8.1) was tested. Tested samples are used to make steel (iron) balls applied in mils for grinding copper and other ore. The corrosion tests were performed using three electrochemical methods, at room temperature in the presence of atmospheric oxygen. The linear polarization resistance (LPR) method, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method, and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) method were applied. Based on measurements by LPR and EIS methods (as non-destructive methods), the value of polarization resistance (Rp) was determined and the general corrosion rate (vcorr) of the examined samples was calculated. The obtained values of the general corrosion rate can be used to calculate the service life of steel (iron) balls under exploitation conditions (seawater). The appearance of the surface after linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) measurement showed the presence of localized corrosion (pits were formed) of the tested samples, especially stainless iron, and the LSV method is not suitable for the determination of the general corrosion rate of tested samples in seawater. This form of corrosion occurs at high anodic polarizations, during performing LSV measurements.

AB - High concentrations of LTA zeolite (27-52mass%) were embedded in poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) matrix to obtain composite hydrogels with porosity and active sites originating from both components. Substandard mechanics of PMAA and aggregation of zeolite particles, were thereby overcome. The composites had remarkably higher density than PMAA xerogel (1700 to1400 kg m−3), higher crosslinking density (54.8 to1.29 mol m−3) and lower swelling degree (41 to 420 kg kg−1). Zeolite particles were uniformly dispersed in PMAA matrix and there was no agglomeration or leaching of zeolite despite very high concentrations. XRD patterns revealed that the inclusion of zeolite particles affected the short-range order in the PMAA matrix. Being an active filler LTA zeolite notably improved thermal stability and mechanics of PMAA hydrogel, multiplying the storage modulus 5.2 times in dry and 21.8 times in swollen state. Structure–property correlations were provided making the base for further development of tailor-made zeolite-PMAA composite hydrogels.

AB - Nowadays, exopolysaccharides (EPS) produced from bacterial cells are manufactured for their use in different industries in the world, mainly in the food, pharmaceutical, and wastewater industries. The characteristics of EPS, such as being biodegradable, safe, high adsorption capacity, and reusable, make them significant and potential applications in the purification of contaminated water of heavy metals. In this study, the possible application in biosorption Ni2+ ions from contaminated water was assessed using this exopolysaccharide as a biosorbent. The new exopolysaccharide from the bacterial strain K. oxytoca J7 was extracted, isolated, and characterized using SEM, FTIR, XRD, TGA/DTG, and MALDI-TOF MS analysis. Likewise, the cytotoxic activity was performed for EPS from K. oxytoca J7 strain. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible application of non-toxic exopolysaccharide in the purification of contaminated water by removing Ni2+ ions. The results obtained from the biosorption study showed that the Langmuir model is well suited to describe the adsorption process of Ni2+ ions by EPS from K. oxytoca J7, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 269.97 mg g–1. The importance of this study is the possible use of natural nontoxic exopolysaccharide extracted from the pathogen microorganism, K. oxytoca J7, for the removal of Ni2+ ions from the contaminated water.

AB - While dental poly methyl methacrylate(PMMA) possesses distinctive qualities such as ease of fabrication, cost-effectiveness, and favorable physical and mechanical properties, these attributes alone are inadequate to impart the necessary impact strength and hardness. Consequently, pure PMMA is less suitable for dental applications. This research focused on the incorporation of Strontium titanate (SrTiO3-STO) and hybrid filler STO/Manganese oxide (MnO2) to improve impact resistance and hardness. The potential of STO in reinforcing PMMA is poorly investigated, while hybrid filler STO/MnO2 has not been presented yet. Differential scanning calorimetry is conducted in order to investigate the agglomeration influence on the PMMA glass transition temperature (Tg), as well as the leaching of residual monomer and volatile additives that could pose a threat to human health. It has been determined that agglomeration with 1 wt% loading had no influence on Tg, while the first scan revealed differences in evaporation of small molecules, in favor of composite PMMA-STO/MnO2, which showed the trapping potential of volatiles. Investigations of mechanical properties have revealed the significant influence of hybrid STO/MnO2 filler on microhardness and total absorbed impact energy, which were increased by 89.9% and 145.4%, respectively. Results presented in this study revealed the reinforcing potential of hybrid nanoparticles that could find application in other polymers as well.

AB - Every microorganism represents a biothermodynamic system, characterized by an empirical formula and thermodynamic properties of biosynthesis. Gibbs energy of biosynthesis influences the multiplication rate of a microorganism. In case of a mixed culture (microbial consortia) biosynthesis processes of microbial species are competitive. This is why Gibbs energy of biosynthesis determines the growth in a mixed culture. This paper gives a mechanistic model that explains growth of microorganisms in mixed culture and ability to grow in microbial consortia. Detailed biosynthesis reactions were formulated for the first time for five microorganism species, which include metallic elements. Moreover, thermodynamic properties of live matter and biosynthesis were calculated for the first time for five microorganism species and macromolecules.

AB - Hydrogels are attractive materials for drug delivery applications due to biocompatible, porous structure with the possibility to load and deliver drugs in a controllable manner. In this paper, poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) hydrogels are described, which are synthesized by free-radical polymerization, using poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) as a crosslinker. Influence of the PEGDA content on hydrogel properties was investigated and compared to commonly used crosslinker - N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA). The increasing concentration of crosslinkers led to a higher degree of crosslinking, which was demonstrated by a higher degree of conversion, lower swelling capacity, and improved thermal stability and mechanical properties. Also, the PEGDA-crosslinked hydrogels demonstrated a higher degree of crosslinking than the corresponding MBA-crosslinked hydrogels. Potential application of the synthesized hydrogels for controlled drug delivery was investigated by using two model drugs - oxaprozin and ciprofloxacin. In vitro drug release tests indicated that the interactions between drug, polymer and medium have a key influence on the drug release behavior, rather than the swelling rate. Drug release tests in simulated gastrointestinal conditions indicated that PEGDA-crosslinked PMAA hydrogels are suitable for colon-targeted delivery of oxaprozin.
AB - Zbog svoje biokompatibilne, visoko-porozne strukture i mogućnosti da nose i kontrolisano
otpuštaju lekove, hidrogelovi su našli široku primenu u biomedicini. U ovom radu,
hidrogelovi na bazi poli(metakrilne kiseline) (PMK), umreženi pomoću poli(etilen-glikol)
diakrilata (PEGDA), sintetisani su metodom toplotno-indukovane slobodno-radikalske
polimerizacije.
povećanjem stepena konverzije monomera, smanjenjem ravnotežnog stepena bubrenja i
poboljšanim toplotnim i mehaničkim svojstvima.
In vitro testovi

AB - Styrene-butadiene (SBR) and acrylonitrile-butadiene (NBR) rubber blends with tetramethyl thiuram disulfide (TMTD) and tetramethyl thiuram monosulfide (TMTS) accelerators and environmentally friendly plasticizers, obtained from PET recycling and biobased resources (LA/PG/PET/EG/LA), were prepared. The mechanical properties of the obtained rubber products were tested and compared with those of commercial dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP). TMTS was prepared by simple and efficient one-pot synthesis from dimethylamine, carbon disulfide, potassium cyanide, and ammonium chloride as catalysts in recycled isopropanol/water azeotrope as solvent. In a comparative study, methoxide, ethoxide, iodide, and amide ions were also used. The two-step reaction mechanism of TMTS synthesis involves the oxidation of the amine salt of dimethyldithiocarbamic acid to TMTD by hydrogen peroxide and sulfur elimination from the TMTD disulfide bond. Potassium cyanide appears to be the most efficient nucleophile. The simplicity of operation, mild reaction conditions, solvent recycling, high yields, and applicability to the industrial level are the advantages of this process. Shore hardness, tensile strength, and compression test results of vulcanized blends before and after aging showed similar properties for both accelerators, while somewhat better results were obtained with LA/PG/PET/EG/LA plasticizer.

AB - Oxidized cotton linters, TOCell, were used as an adsorbent or derived membrane there from by linters
cross-linking with citric acid. The adsorption/desorption study of Pb2+, methylene blue (MB), and crystal
violet (CV) removal, was performed. Adsorption data fitting, obtained using the Langmuir model, gave
116 mg g 1 (Pb2+), 179 mg g 1 (MB) and 482 mg g 1 (CV) at 25 ℃ for TOCell linters, while 101 mg g 1
(Pb2+), 165 mg g 1 (MB) and 426 mg g 1 (CV) for TOCell membrane. After desorption dyes were subjected
to photocatalytic degradation while lead was transformed into stable lead phthalate (LP), and further
used as filler in composites based on unsaturated polyester resins (UPR). UPR was synthesized from
waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Structural characterization was performed using FTIR, SEM,
and NMR methods. Composites loaded with acryloyl modified kraft lignin (A-KfL) and/or LP was tested
for tensile strength, Vickers microhardness, and fire resistance (UL-94 V method). The best mechanical
and fireproofing properties were obtained at 15 wt.% A-KfL and 40 wt.% Al(OH)3 addition. The results
of the toxicity leaching test (TCLP) confirmed the environmentally safe stabilization of desorbed pollutant
in the UPR matrix. Application of environmentally friendly membranes, susceptible to easy biodegradation, had low negative effects to the environment.

AB - Acrylate polymers are used in several applications such as dentistry, medicine, and industry. The modification of their properties using the reinforcement is of key importance for the possible applications. Layered double hydroxides are materials that are easily synthesized by several techniques giving the possibility to modulate the chemical composition and morphology of the reinforcement and they consist of a divalent and a trivalent anion hydroxide and the layers can be exfoliated and thus provide a material interesting for composite reinforcement. In this paper, Mn was used as a divalent and Al as a trivalent cation. The obtained particles were used as reinforcement for the preparation of composites in 1, 3, and 5 wt% quantities and prepared samples were compared to the matrix consisting of PMMA. Physical mechanical properties of the sample having the best mechanical properties (with 3 wt% of MnAl-LDH filers) exhibited 6.38% modulus of elasticity, 27% hardness, and 10% tensile strength improved values compared to the clear PMMA matrix. Toughness was lowered in this sort of composite compared to the pure matrix. Highlights: MnAl-LDH-PMMA composites improved modulus, strength, hardness Loss of toughness is tolerable for 3 wt% reinforcement Viscoelastic properties are improved for composites compared to matrix.
