AB  - U ovom radu ispitivana je otpornost tkanina prema abraziji upotrebom Martindale-ovog uređaja. Otpornost tkanina prema abraziji ocenjena je primenom standardizovane Martindale-ove metode koja podrazumeva, sa jedne strane, određivanje oštećenja epruvete preko broja abrazionih pokreta koji dovode do prekida dve odvojene pređe u ispitivanoj epruveti, a sa druge strane, određivanje procenta gubitka mase epruvete. Standardizovana Martindale-ova metoda je dopunjena određivanjem smanjenja debljine ispitivanih tkanina tokom abrazije. Sve promene na materijalu su praćene sa aspekta sirovinskog sastava tkanina, vrste prepletaja, broja abrazionih pokreta i intenziteta primenjenog opterećenja. Ispitivanja su pokazala saglasnost rezultata dobijenih primenom sva tri pokazatelja pri određivanju abrazione otpornosti tkanina.
AB  - In this paper the abrasion resistance of woven fabrics using the Martindale's device was investigated. The abrasion resistance of the woven fabrics was evaluated using standardized Martindale's method which means the number of rubs when two separated threads at specimen were completely broken, as well as the loss of the specimen mass. Martindale's standardized method was supplemented by the determination of the loss of thickness of investigated woven fabrics during abrasion. All changes of woven materials are monitored from the aspect of material composition, type of weave, the number of rubbing cycles and intensity of the applied specimen loading. Tests have shown the accordance of the results obtained by applying of all three indicators during investigation of woven fabrics abrasion resistance.

AB  - Non-woven textile materials have been increasingly used for a variety of applications in industry and daily life. This imposes a need for the investigation of electrical properties in different conditions of their usage. In the scope of this investigation, electrical conductivity and dielectric properties such as relative dielectric permeability and dielectric loss tangent of various polyester non-woven textile materials were determined. Experimental values of frequency were in the limits of 80 kHz to 2 MHz at relative environmental humidity of 30%. In addition, aimed at discovering the behaviour of investigated material from the aspect of electrical conductivity in various conditions of environmental humidity, the electrical conductance was measured both at 30% and 80% of relative environmental humidity in the electric periodic field at the frequency of 1 MHz All measurements were realised at the temperature of 30 degrees C. Obtained results showed that with the increase of frequency of electric periodic field electrical conductivity of tested samples increases, while the values of dielectric properties decrease. Furthermore, it was found that the increase of relative environmental humidity provokes the increase of electrical conductivity of tested non-woven samples

AB  - In this paper, we have investigated the temperature dependence of dielectric properties (relative dielectric permeabilities and dielectric tangents of losses) for woven fabrics of hemp, jute, flax, cotton, polyester (PES), cotton-PES mixture, and wool. The measurements have been carried out at a temperature range from -50 to 50 degrees C in the electric periodic field at a frequency 1 MHz in vacuum. For the same specimens, the values of the dielectric properties have also been measured at an air temperature of 21 degrees C and at relative humidities of 40%, 60%, and 80%. At different frequencies from 80 kHz to 5 MHz, the dielectric properties have been measured at a relative humidity of 40% and at a temperature of 21 degrees C. An investigation of the dielectric properties of woven fabrics can provide a better understanding of the relation between the dielectric properties of woven fabrics and the different raw material compositions, temperatures, relative air humidities, and frequencies for specimens. Hence, this investigation helps to improve textile material properties.

Complex estimation of woven fabrics bending ability

AB  - The bending ability of cotton, wool and viscose woven fabrics under the action of their own weight has been examined using the direct indicators by cantilever method, and indirect indicators by disc method. The results obtained by the usage of direct and indirect indicators are found to be sensitive to raw material as well as constructional characteristics of woven fabrics. Values of direct as well as indirect indicators can be used for establishing the complex estimation of fabrics bending ability. It is found that the viscose-fabric has the best bending ability and cotton (1) the poorest.

AB  - U cilju iznalaženja zadovoljavajućeg postupka modifikovanja vlakana konoplje u ovom radu su prikazane zavisnosti između hemijskog sastava, finoće i električne otpornosti. Prema proceduri za određivanje hemijskog sastava sukcesivno su uklanjane jedna po jedna prateća komponenta iz vlakana konoplje. Nakon svake etape odvojena je izvesna količina vlaknastog supstrata, a potom su izvršena merenja finoće i električne otpornosti, u cilju utvrđivanja uticaja svake komponente iz vlakana konoplje na pomenute karakteristike. Takođe je izvršena analiza uticaja eksperimentalnih uslova na finoću i električnu otpornost pri uobičajenom postupku modifikovanja vlakana konoplje zasnovanom na njihovom tretiranju rastvorom natrijumhidroksida.
AB  - Hemp fibres belong to the group of natural, cellulose bast fibres. These fibres have exceptional properties such as: antimicrobial effect, absence of allergy effect, extraordinary sorption properties, good electro-physical properties (small static electricity in regard to other cellulose fibres) as well as high values of breaking strength (the natural fibre with the highest strength). However, hemp fibres have some defects: heterogeneous chemical composition, large quantity of accompanying substances (lignin pectins, waxes) and unsatisfactory fineness and evenness. It is possible to a great extent to eliminate or reduce, the defects of hemp fibres by of appropriate modification treatments. In order to determine the appropriate modification treatment of hemp fibres, the dependences between the chemical composition, fineness and electric resistance of hemp fibres were presented in this paper. In the experimental part of the paper, by the application of a procedure for the determination of the chemical composition, the accompanying supstances of hemp fibres were gradually removed. After each phase some fibrous substrates were separated. After that the fineness and electric resistance were determined. This experiment was conducted in order to define the influence of each component of hemp fibres on the fineness and electric resistance. In this paper, hemp fibres were modified by an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, under different conditions of modification. The influence of modification conditions on the fineness and electric resistance were studied.

AB  - Razvijena je metoda za određivanje koeficijenta trenja pređa adaptacijom uređaja za određivanje koeficijenta trenja tekstilnih površina zasnovanog na principu strme ravni. Metoda je bazirana na primeni Amontonovog zakona i omogućava određivanje koeficijenta trenja pređe o metalnu površinu. Rezultati koeficijenta trenja prede o metalnu površinu dobijeni primenom metode adaptiranog dinamometra, koju su autori rada ranije razvili, potvrdili su uspešnost metode prikazane u ovom radu.
AB  - In this paper, method for determination of yarn friction coefficient on the apparatus, which is already used for determination of textile surfaces friction coefficient, was developed. The way on which adapted apparatus functions is based on the application of Amonton's law, i.e. on the principle of the inclined plane. This method made it possible the friction coefficient of the yarn/metal surface interface to be determined. Results of the yarn/metal surface interface friction coefficient, obtained by the application of the method of adapted dynamo meter, which has been earlier developed by the authors, confirmed the successfulness of the presented method.

AB  - Razvijena je metoda za ispitivanje sklonosti tkanina ka drapiranju, nazvana metodom igle. Metoda se zasniva na oceni drapiranja uzoraka tkanih površina pravougaonog oblika. Metoda omogućava simultano određivanje faktora drapiranja tkanina u pravcu osnove i u pravcu potke. Uspešno je primenjena za određivanje faktora drapiranja niza tkanina, pretežno formiranih od agroceluloznih vlakana. Dobijeni rezultati su saglasni sa rezultatima određivanja krutosti istih tkanina pri savijanju.
AB  - The method, called pin method, for the investigation of fabrics drape ability is developed. Method is based on the estimation of drape ability of rectangle samples of fabrics surfaces. Method enables simultaneous determination of fabric's drape factor in warp as well as in weft direction. Pin method is successfully applied for determination of drape factor of series fabrics mostly produces from the agro cellulose fibers. Obtained results are agreeable to the results of determination of bending stiffness of the same fabrics.

AB  - A mathematical approach to the setting of a new model of knitted and other  loose textile surfaces  deformation during a ball-bursting test is presented. The dependence of ball traverse length is defined in an implicit manner by an exact system of equations. A  procedure for the development of the corresponding explicit dependence has also been proposed. The new model is proved by experimental results as correct and applicable  in a simple way to  all possible values of the ball  traverse length  in ball bursting tests.

AB  - Razvijeni su postupci za ocenu zavisnosti električne otpornosti tekstilnih materijala od vlažnosti sredine. Korišćen je uređaj koji su autori ranije konstruisali, i za tu svrhu snabdeli komorom koja obezbeđuje definisanu vlažnost u mernoj zoni. Uređaj je primenjen za određivanje električne otpornosti niza uzoraka različite geometrije i sirovinskog sastava pri različitim vlažnostima u mernoj komori. Registrovana je intenzivna zavisnost električne otpornosti tekstilnih materijala od njihovih karakteristika i vlažnosti okoline.
AB  - The methods for evaluation of the dependence of textile materials electric resistance on humidity were developed. An arrangement designed for measurement of the textile materials electric resistance, which the authors are developed earlier, placed in a chamber which provides the regulation of humidity within the measuring field, was used. The device was applied for a measuring the electric resistance of textile samples with different forms and raw material compositions, using different humidity's in the measurement zone. The significant influence of humidity on investigated textile samples electric resistance was concluded.

AB  - Razmatrane su neke metode i uređaji za ispitivanje ponašanja tekstilnih materijala pri jednostrukom i višestrukom dejstvu spoljašnjih aksijalnih sila čiji je intenzitet manji od prekidnog. U radu su prikazani različiti tipovi relaksometara i pulsatora pomoću kojih se ispituju jednociklične i višeciklične karakteristike tekstilnih materijala. Ovakva ispitivanja su od izuzetnog značaja pri oceni ponašanja materijala u upotrebnim uslovima.
AB  - Some methods and devices for investigation of textile materials behavior under occurring once and repeated action of external axial forces, whose intensity is less than breaking one, are examined. In this paper various types of relaxsomerers and pulsators that are used for investigation of one-cycle and multi-cycle characteristic of textile materials are presented These investigations are of special importance during estimation the behavior of materials at use.

AB  - Dat je prikaz stacionarne metode za određivanje električne otpornosti tekstilnih materijala. Metoda je zasnovana na merenju razlike potencijala na krajevima otpornika poznate otpornosti vezanog na red sa uzorkom ispitivanog materijala i izvorom jednosmernog visokog napona. Mogućnosti naponske metode su ilustrovane rezultatima određivanja električne otpornosti niza tekstilnih materijala različitih konstruktivnih karakteristika i sirovinskog sastava.
AB  - An approach of a stationary method for determination the textile materials electric resistance is given. The method is based on the measurement of voltage on the resistor with known resistance connected serially with the textile material and a D.C. power supply. The possibilities of the voltage method are demonstrated by the determination of the electric resistance of a series of textile materials with different construction and composition.

AB  - An attempt has been made to use the Staff - tester, an instrument for checking the surface condition of yarns by their self abrasion in the loop with new types of yarn contacts. The basic metrological indicator of this apparatus, the mass of fiber debris produced during yarn self rubbing, was proved to be as useful as under normal working conditions of the Staff tester, especially when coupled with yarn hairiness monitor.
AB  - Izvršen je pokušaj korišćenja Staff-testera, poznatog instrumenta za utvrđivanje stanja površine pređe preko njihove samoabrazije u petlji, u uslovima modifikovanih tipova kontakta. Osnovni metrološki indikator ovog aparata, masa vlaknastog otpatka proizvedenog pri trenju pređe o pređu pokazao se kao upotrebljiv kao i u normalnim radnim uslovima Staff-testera posebno u slučaju njegovog kuplovanja sa meračem maljavosti.

AB  - Ispitivana su neka mehanička i elektrofizička svojstva pređa formiranih od mešavine pamučnih i metalnih vlakana. Rezultati su upoređeni sa rezultatima dobijenim za pamučne pređe iste finoće. Registrovano je smanjenje električne otpornosti hibridnih u odnosu na pamučne pređe za nekoliko redova veličine. Evidentirana je zavisnost električne otpornosti ispitivanih hibridnih preda od udela metalne komponente, finoće prede i predopterećenja uzorka. Konstatovano je izvesno smanjenje prekidne sile, povećanje zaostalog torzionog momenta i frikcione sile u kontaktu 'pređa-pređa', kao i opadanje abrazione otpornosti hibridnih pređa sa povećanjem udela metalne komponente.
AB  - Some mechanical and electrophysical properties of cotton-metallic fiber blended yarns were observed. The results obtained in different tests were compared with those of pure cotton yarns of the same fineness. A decrease of blended yarns electrical resistance for a few orders of magnitude was stated. This property of blended yarns shows a dependence on the metallic component fraction, yarn fineness and the pretension applied during the measurement of electrical properties. A reduction of tenacity, an increase of both residual torque in yarns and frictional forces in contacts 'yarn-yarn', as well as a reduction of abrasion resistance of blended yarns with increasing contents of the metallic component have been observed.

AB  - Dielektrična svojstva tekstilnh materijala uslovljavaju pojavu statičkog naelektrisanja pri njihovom kontaktu sa drugim telima. Statičko naelektrisanje često nepovoljno utiče na ponašanje tekstilnh materijala kako u proizvodnim uslovima tako i pri korišćenju. Stoga je važno poznavati veličinu statičkog naelektrisanja i primenjivati adekvatne metode za njegovo smanjenje. Dat je pregled važnijih metoda za neutralizaciju statičkog naelektrisanja na tekstilnim materijalima.
AB  - Dielectric properties of textile materials cause electrification during their contacts with other bodies. Static electricity has in many cases an unfavorable influence on the behavior of textile materials in processing and exploitation, necesiting precise information about its value, as well as the realization of appropriate methods for its reduction or elimination. In this work a review of the most important methods for static electricity neutralization on textile materials is given.

AB  - Ispitivane su jednociklične karakteristike pređa pri istezanju. Primenjen je postupak sa konstantnim opterećenjem u prvoj fazi ciklusa opterećenje - rasterećenje - odmor. Upoređivani su rezultati određivanja relaksacionih karakteristika dobijeni pomoću četiri metode: dve sa horizontalno i dve sa vertikalno postavljenim uzorkom pređe. Proučavan je uticaj primenjenog opterećenja u prvoj fazi ciklusa na relaksaciona svojstva ispitivanih uzoraka pređa.
AB  - One - cyclic yarn characteristics at extension were determined. The method with constant loading in the first part of the cycle: loading - removing of load - rest, was used. The results of relaxation characteristics of four different methods, two with a horizontal specimen position and two with a vertical specimen position, were compared. The influence of the loading in the first stage of the cycle on yarn relaxation properties was investigated.

AB  - Breaking characteristics of loose woven and knitted fabrics are frequently determined by the ball penetration resistance (bursting) (test). The Yugoslav Standard JUS F.S2.022 does not include the determination of sample dimensional change and in the foreign literature there are only empirical equations for the estimating this property. In this work an attempt is made to calculate exact linear deformations of textile samples in function of ball dimensions and measured length of its movement during the bursting test. Detailed calculation of an approximate equation for estimating dimensional changes and relating them in a simple form with the motion of the ball is also given. This calculation is necessarily approximate, because of the transcendental character of corresponding geometrical relations, but this does not diminish its general validity.

abstract = "Breaking characteristics of loose woven and knitted fabrics are frequently determined by the ball penetration resistance (bursting) (test). The Yugoslav Standard JUS F.S2.022 does not include the determination of sample dimensional change and in the foreign literature there are only empirical equations for the estimating this property. In this work an attempt is made to calculate exact linear deformations of textile samples in function of ball dimensions and measured length of its movement during the bursting test. Detailed calculation of an approximate equation for estimating dimensional changes and relating them in a simple form with the motion of the ball is also given. This calculation is necessarily approximate, because of the transcendental character of corresponding geometrical relations, but this does not diminish its general validity.",

Electrical resistance of cotton-metal fibre yarns

AB  - Yarns representing cotton-metal fibre blends were studied. The electrical resistance of yarns including different fractions of cotton and metal fibres was compared with cotton yarns having the same nominal characteristics. The expected dominant role of metal fibres in conducting electric current and the decrease in yarn's electrical resistance with the increase of metal fibre content was registered. The large dispersion of results and time instability of the electrical resistance of yarns consisting of cotton and metal fibres may be related to the increase of the cross section and insufficiently compact structure of such yarns. The increase in yarn's electrical resistance with the increase in stress was observed in the samples.
