Strategic directions of the development of the textile and clothing industry in the Republic of Serbia

Abstract

Today, the textile industry is one of the most globalized industrial branches and those who want to be successful in this branch have to continuously follow contemporary tendencies in the market regarding standards, raw materials, as well as the technical equipment of production. The subject matter of study of this paper is the role of the textile industry in the process of the reindustrialization of the Serbian economy. The paper starts from the fact that, in the past decades, the domestic economy has been in a very difficult situation, which is a consequence of the action of many negative factors, first of all the political and war conflicts in these territories, then the inefficiently conducted transition process, as well as the influence of the world economic crisis. In the given circumstances, there has been an intensive process of deindustrialization, which has unfavorably reflected on the growth and development of the domestic economy. The paper indicates the necessity of undertaking appropriate measures of the economic policy aimed at reviving and developing the domestic economy; one of the necessary methods proposed is the initiation of the reindustrialization process. Special attention is paid to the place and role of the textile and clothing industry in that process, and a conclusion is drawn that the textile and clothing industry may substantially contribute to a successful implementation of the country reindustrialization process.

Tekstilna industrija je danas jedna od najglobalizovanijih industrijskih grana i oni koji žele da budu uspešni u ovoj grani moraju kontinuirano da prate savremene tendencije na tržištu u pogledu standarda, sirovina ali i tehničke opremljenosti proizvodnje. Predmet proučavanja ovog rada jeste uloga tekstilne industrije u procesu reindustrijalizacije privrede Srbije. U radu se polazi od činjenice da se poslednjih decenija domaća ekonomija nalazi u veoma teškoj situaciji, koja je posledica delovanja mnogih negativnih faktora, a pre svega političkih i ratnih sukoba na ovim prostorima, zatim neefikasno sprovedenog procesa tranzicije, kao i uticaja svetske ekonomske krize. U datim okolnostima došlo je do intenzivnog procesa deindustrijalizacije, koji se nepovoljno odrazio na rast i razvoj domaće privrede. U radu se ukazuje na neophodnost preduzimanja odgovarajućih mera ekonomske politike u cilju oživljavanja i razvoja domaće privrede, a kao jedna od neophodnih metoda predlaže se iniciranje procesa reindustrijalizacije. Posebna pažnja posvećuje se mestu i ulozi tekstilne i odevne industrije u tom procesu i zaključuje se da tekstilna i odevna industrija može znatno da doprinese uspešnoj realizaciji procesa reindustrijalizacije zemlje. .
