The aim of this study was to investigate the potential utilities of recycled wool-based nonwoven material for removal of different kinds of oil from water. Sorption capacities of the material in water, oil retention, sorbent reusability and buoyancy in static and dynamic conditions were determined. It was found that wool even as a recycled material efficiently adsorbs oil (crude oil, diesel fuel, base oil SN150, motor oil GLX SAE 15W-40, vegetable oil) showing excellent buoyancy after 24 h. Sorbent also exhibited good reusability since even after five sorption cycles in oil medium without water, the decrease in sorption capacity did not exceed the 50% of initial value.sr
