In Serbia there were several polimetal ores deposits from which silver was exploited during ancient times and middle ages. Large silver production in middle ages, during Nemanjić dynasty, contributed to development and power of Serbia. In that time Novo Brdo was one of the largest European cities. After the arrival of Turks and after many wars, exploitation of mines gradually was decreasing in Serbia, and at the beginning of XVIII century completely stopped.en
