Mathematical modeling of zinc ions biosorption by short hemp fibers
Matematičko modelovanje procesa biosorpcije jona cinka kratkim vlaknima konoplje
Апстракт
Waste hemp fibers were used as an efficient biosorbent for removal of zinc ions from polluted water. In order to obtain the material with better sorption properties, short hemp fibers were chemically modified. The following factors that may influence the sorption properties of short hemp fibers were examined: fiber structure - characterized by fiber fineness, specific surface area - determined by BET method, and the amount of carboxyl groups - determined by calcium-acetate method. Data obtained from the zinc biosorption experiments were used for development of mathematical model that describes sorption process of zinc ions and structural parameters of short hemp fibers. It was found that chemical modification affects specific surface area and morphology, and consequently the sorption properties of hemp fibers. A good agreement between model prediction and the experimental data indicates that the proposed mathematical model can be used for optimization of heavy metal ions biosorption pr...ocess.
U ovom radu otpadna vlakna konoplje korišćena su kao efikasni biosorbenti za uklanjanje jona cinka iz zagađene vode, a poboljšanje efikasnosti biosoprcije postignuto je hemijskim modifikovanjem vlakana konoplje. Karakterizacija vlakana izvršena je određivanjem finoće, specifične površine i količine funkcionalnih grupa prisutnih na njihovoj površini. Podaci dobijeni ispitivanjem biosorpcije cinka na kratkim vlaknima konoplje, iskorišćeni su za razvoj matematičkog modela koji opisuje proces biosorpcije jona cinka i uspostavlja vezu sa strukturnim parametrima vlakana konoplje. Pokazano je da korišćeni hemijski tretmani utiču na specifičnu površinu i morfologiju kratkih vlakana konoplje, a samim tim i na sorpcione karakteristike. Takođe, dobra slaganja između eksperimentalnih podataka i predikcije modela pokazuju da se predloženi model na zadovoljavajući način može koristiti za modelovanje procesa biosorpcije teških metala na vlaknima konoplje.
