The influence of permanent dipole moments on second harmonic generation in asymmetric semiconductor quantum wells
Abstract
The influence of permanent dipole moments on intersubband double resonance second harmonic generation in asymmetric quantum wells is analyzed. It is found that in realistic QWs matched for 10.6 mu m pump the permanent dipole moments may have modest to significant influence on the conversion efficiency, especially at higher pump powers. At longer wavelengths, however, their influence increases, and should be taken into account in modeling the device performance.
