Abstract
A case study is presented that deals with Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, Pancevo, Serbia, in which handling of raw pyrolysis gasoline (RPG) has two possible pathways, i.e,, by pipelines to nearby refinery or transport by river barges to distant refinery. The two alternatives are compared taking into account emissions estimation of VOC and hazardous air pollutants (HAP) and related environmental costs calculations. Case study results show that environmental air pollution is much in the alternative of reloading and ship transport. The value and role of related environmental costs (storages, loading, and transport) as a key component in process of making adequate environmental decisions are discussed. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 19th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering and 7th European Congress of Chemical Engineering (Prague, Czech Republic 8/28/2010-9/1/2010).
