Knitted fabrics design impact on optimal thermal comfort
Dizajn pletenina u funkciji optimalnog toplotnog komfora
Abstract
As general concern for personal wellbeing and quality of life nowadays becomes exceptionally significant, the importance of clothing comfort is well recognized by the public. Thermal comfort relates to the ability of the clothing materials to support the thermoregulation system of the body to keep its temperature at the mean value. The overall purpose of a textile designer is to design and produce a clothing item which at the same time has to be comfortable and pleasant in look. The main objective of this paper is to indicate the possible directions of providing satisfactory thermal comfort of knitted fabrics by optimizing their structure. In this investigation, the range of knitted fabrics differing in structure was obtained by using yarns with various structure and fiber composition and by varying in construction parameters of the knits. Transport properties (transfer of heat, air and water) of the knitted fabrics were investigated. The results obtained confirmed the possibility of a...chieving desired thermal comfort by the adequate selection of yarn's and fabric's structure.
