Abstract
The thermal degradation of poly(di-itaconates) is discussed with special emphasis on the Influence of the nature of the ester substituent. It was established that the following reactions occur during the thermal degradation of these polymers: depolymerisatlon, de-estehfication, elimination, crosslinking, random main and/or side chain scission and carbonisation. Depolymerisation is the predominant degradation pathway and it may be initiated by end chain and random main and/or side chain scission.
