Abstract
Thermal stability of the polymer blends strongly depends on the composition and compatibility of involved polymers. Thermal stability of polymer blends is directly linked with the bond energies in the polymer structure, type of covalent or noncovalent bonds, and degree of unsaturation. The factors related to the polymer structure significantly affecting thermal stability are functional groups, molecular weight, branch degree, cross-linking, and crystallinity. The thermal stability of polymer blends is associated with their developed morphology which is a result of the compatibility between the individual components. An effective compatibilizer has the ability to mix immiscible polymers whereby enables a production of a polymer blend with uniform microstructure and improved thermal stability.
