Abstract
In this doctoral dissertation, the novel polymeric materials were synthesized as carriers for the incorporation and controlled release of therapeutically active metal ions, for the application in wound treatment and soft tissue regeneration. Ability to control the process of local release of incorporated active agent and managеment/prevention of infections, along with the appropriate biological activity, provides successful wound healing, which is the goal of this work. pH and temperature sensitive hydrogels based on 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and itaconic acid were synthesized by free radical polymerization, whereby the itaconic acid content was varied which resulted in H hydrogel series. CI hydrogel series was obtained by incorporation of copper(II) ions in synthesized hydrogels. In order to evaluate the influence of the incorporated metal form on the characteristics and behavior of the hydrogels, the chemical reduction of copper(II) ions was conducted and CR hydrogel series was obtaine...d. The prepared hydrogel series were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and monitoring of swelling kinetics, as well as pH and temperature swelling behaviour...
