Cobalt(II)-exchange in Zeolite A
Abstract
The influence of the initial Co(2+) and Na(+) concentrations (Co(Co) and Co(Na), respectively) upon the exchange degree (y) of Na(+) by Co(2+) ions in Zeolite A at 20 oC has been studied. The observed increase of y with the increase in Co(Co) is significantly only at low Co((Co) values due to a levelling-off effect. The y values declines with the decrease of Co(Co)/Co(Na) ratio. An empirical model describing this ion-exchange is given.
