Structural analysis of abrasive composite materials with nonwoven textile matrix
Abstract
The goal of this research was to design the novel composite material based on nonwoven textile material (NTM) while using the existing production facilities. The chosen product was abrasive composite material with nonwoven textile matrix. Latex as bonding agent and Al2O3 particles as abrasive components of composite were used. The influence of fiber fineness and bonding agent content on the distribution of abrasive particles in the composite, degree of particle coverage with the adhesive as well as the degree of closing pores of matrix by bonding agent were investigated. The obtained microphotographs were treated with appropriate software for quantification of visual information (QVI). The results of QVI were used for optimization of the process of the production of abrasive composite with nonwoven textile matrix.
