Among the various solvents for direct solution of cellulose and application of these solutions for production of man-made cellulose fibers the most perspective one is N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO). The emphasis of this paper is on research of behaviour and characterization of concentrated cellulose solution in NMMO. Rhelogical properties and thermic stability were studied. Cellulose solutions were subjected to thermomechanical analysis in the temperature range 70-120°C and thermogravimetric analysis was carried out in the range 25-400°C. The tested solutions were thermally stable up to 120°C and behave as the newtonian liquids with viscosities from 10^1-10^5 Pa.s. The obtained dependence viscosity on concentration, speed of shearing and temperature implies to conclusion that it is possible to obtain the fibers from concentrated solutions even with bigger shearing speeds than with viscose process of production of fibers.sr
