AB - Failure analysis of welded joint with multiple defects was performed taking into account the effect of all defects, not just a dominant one. Four cases of multiple defects in welded joint under the uniaxial tensile loading were investigated using extended Finite Element Method. Two-dimensional Finite Element Models were made according to the tensile specimens with initial crack located in a critical area of welded joint. For each multiple defects case, numerical simulation was performed with three initial crack depth. Engineering Critical Analysis was made using Failure Assessment Diagrams for each defect that was determined as critical for its welded joint case. Numerical simulation showed that the geometry of the most prominent one from a point of view of structural integrity. It was concluded that the vertical misalignment in combination with a secondary defect, had the most adverse effect which can lead to failure of welded structure.

AB - Crack size and undermatching effects on fracture behavior of undermatched welded joints are presented and analyzed. Experimental and numerical analysis of the fracture behavior of high-strength low-alloyed (HSLA) steel welded joints with so-called small and large crack in undermatched weld metal and the base metal was performed, as a part of more extensive research previously conducted. J integral was determined by direct measurement using special instrumentation including strain gauges and a CMOD measuring device. Numerical analysis was performed by 3D finite element method (FEM) with different tensile properties in BM and WM. Results of J-CMOD curves evaluation for SUMITEN SM 80P HSLA steel and its weld metal (WM) are presented and analyzed for small and large cracks in tensile panels. This paper is focused on some new numerical results and observations on crack tip fields and constraint effects of undermatching and crack size keeping in mind previously performed experiments on the full-scale prototype. In this way, a unique combined approach of experimental investigation on the full-scale proto-type and tensile panels, as well as numerical investigation on mismatching and crack size effects, is achieved.

AB - In order to develop a non-standard method for determining the resistance to fracture and damage of pipeline materials, a new geometry of ring-shaped specimens with sharp notches or cracks has been defined. The need to develop a new method for testing of the specimens cut from the pipes arises due to the difficulties in determination of fracture mechanics parameters on thin-walled pressure pipelines, especially those with a smaller cross-section, by application of the standard procedures/specimens. Previous studies dealing with the topic of pipeline testing by non-standard methods are presented in the introductory part of the paper. In the experimental part of the research, tests on PRNT (Pipe Ring Notched Tension) and SENT (Single Edge Notched Tension) specimens are performed. Samples of these specimens were produced by SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) technique of additive production from PA12 (polyamide PA 2200) material. For the purpose of this study, a tool that is protected at the national level (in Serbia) as intellectual property is used for testing of the ring-shaped PRNT specimens. Tensile testing of both types of specimens is monitored by Aramis GOM 2M system; its operation is based on the method of digital image correlation, DIC. Additionally, finite element analyses are conducted on the PRNT and SENT geometries, enabling the calculation of the fracture mechanics parameter – Stress intensity factor K. It is concluded that the presented procedure based on the PRNT specimen has a good potential for use as a non-standard method for fracture resistance examination of pipeline materials. It can be performed on the specimens cut directly from the pipes (new or from exploitation). The dependence of the fracture resistance on the stress concentrator size is not pronounced, which means that the results depend dominantly on the material properties, rather than on geometry.

AB - The integrity assessment of high pressure steam pipeline
primarily requires stress state determination, including not
only effects of working pressure and temperature, but also
all acting loads. Toward this aim, the application of numerical methods for calculating the stress state is the best option.
Here, the integrity assessment of one of the collectors of the
RA line at Block 1 of ‘Nikola Tesla’ B Thermal Power Plant
is shown, which was the subject of reconstruction due to a
manufacturing defect in one of the welded joints. Integrity
and risk of the steam line is assessed using fracture
mechanics parameters, including microstructural analysis.

AB - Cavitation resistance of welded joints of the three-component aluminum alloy AlMg4.5Mn was examined in this paper. Tests were performed on samples of welded joints as well as on samples of the base material. Welding was performed by TIG and MIG procedures in a protective atmosphere of pure argon. After the welding, metallographic tests were performed. The ultrasonic cavitation test method with a stationary sample was used to test the resistance to cavitation according standard ASTM G32 [1]. During the test, the change in mass of the samples was monitored in order to determine the cavitation rate. The least squares method was applied, where the slope of the straight line determines the cavitation rate (Fig.1). The base material of the AlMg4.5Mn alloy has the highest resistance to the effect of cavitation (the lowest total mass loss and the lowest cavitation rate). The welded joint obtained by the MIG process has a higher resistance to the effect of cavitation compared to the sample obtained by the TIG process. This behavior is a consequence of the smaller porosity and finer microstructure of the sample obtained by the MIG process (Fig. 1). The morphology of damage to the surface of samples exposed to the effect of cavitation during testing was monitored using scanning microscopy. It was shown that ductile fracture mechanism was identified for all studied samples together with the presence of small fatigue like craters.

AB - This paper presents development of numerical models for simulation of the behaviour of titanium alloy hip implants under static and dynamic loads, which is a part of extensive research involving the structural integrity of such implants under various loading conditions, as well as under exposure to aggressive environments. Numerical models were created in ABAQUS and ANSYS software packages, in order to determine the stress/strain distribution, the number of cycles to failure and stress intensity factors, for two different hip implant geometries. The ABAQUS models were used for static and ANSYS models for dynamic loads. The next stage in this analysis involved comparing these two cases, to determine the one with the better behaviour, depending on the exploitation conditions, which can greatly vary between different groups of patients. The targeted patient weight for all numerical simulations was 90 kg, while failure assessment diagrams were made for both implant geometries, assuming a crack length of 1 mm.
ABAQUS i ANSYS softverskim paketima, u cilju procene distribucije napon/deformacija i broja ciklusa do

The targeted patient weight for all numerical simulations was 90 kg, while failure assessment diagrams were made for both implant geometries, assuming a crack length of 1 mm., U ovom radu je prikazan razvoj numeričkih modela za simulaciju implantata za zamenu zgloba kuka pod
ABAQUS i ANSYS softverskim paketima, u cilju procene distribucije napon/deformacija i broja ciklusa do

AB - In order to define a procedure for integrity assessment of pipelines and determining the fracture mechanics parameters, a new type of specimen with a sharp notch, Pipe Ring Notched Tension (PRNT) specimen, is tested. The aim of the study is to determine the influence of the specimen geometry (cylindrical shape, as well as number and length of stress concentrators) on parameters such as force, Crack Mouth Opening Displacement CMOD, Crack Tip Opening Displacement CTOD and J integral. The specimens were fabricated by an additive production method - selective laser sintering (SLS). EOS Formiga P100 machine is used, and the material is polyamide PA12. In addition to Pipe Ring Notched Tension specimens, Single Edge Notched Tension (SENT) specimens with identical cross section were also considered. All specimens were tested on a universal tensile testing machine. A tool specially designed to apply contact pressure to the inner walls in the tension direction was used, simulating the internal pressure. For determining the field of displacement and strain on the surface of the tested samples that occur during the loading, Aramis GOM 2M optical measurement system was used. Aramis is applied for determination of geometry fracture mechanics parameters: CMOD and CTOD (based on δ5 concept). In addition to the examination of fracture properties of additively manufactured PA12, the main topic of this work is the development of the non-standard testing procedure, which will be subsequently applied to the specimens cut from metallic or non-metallic pipes. As an important part of this procedure, the calculation of fracture parameters will be conducted based on the results presented here.

AB - Composition and production procedures of the mullite-based coatings for the protection of metal surfaces in the conditions of cavitation, wear and corrosion were investigated. An ultrasonic vibration method according to the ASTM G32 standard was used to characterize the coating. The change in the mass of samples as a function of the cavitation time was monitored and the cavitation rate was determined. The occurrence and development of the coating surface damage were monitored using a scanning electron microscope. Based on the value of cavitation rate and analysis of the surface damage morphology, the cavitation resistance of coating was determined. Coatings have shown the satisfactory resistance in the conditions of cavitation and possibility of application for the protection of parts of equipment in metallurgy and mining.

AB - In order to assess the integrity of welded pressure vessel containing a crack, the behavior of three-point bending specimens made of HSLA steel welded joint are tested at -40 °C, and their fracture behaviour analyzed, as a conservative measure of crack resistance. Specimens were made of low-alloyed steel NIONIKRAL 70, welded by SAW process. Surface notches were machined by the electro-erosion method in the parent metal (PM), heat affected zone (HAZ) and weld metal (WM). The highest resistance to cracking was in PM, and the lowest one in WM, due to so-called pop-in behaviour.

AB - In this paper is shown designing of manufacturing process of reformer in polymeric electrolyte membrane
(PEM) fuel cell. The process is based on reformer modelling, analyzing of reforming initial geometry and
change of geometry. In addition to the numerical calculation, change of geometry is based on tool path
simulation analysis in order to obtain more efficient reformer production. Before machining, tool path
simulation was performed and generated by PTC Creo/Parametric software. The recommendations for
geometry changing are given in order to decrease of machining costs, and are made so that did not affect
the initial reformer performances. The reformer machining is carried out on a CNC milling machine and Wire
EDM machine.
