abstract = "The ferrous oxide doped alumina particles, Al2O3 Fe, modified with 3-aminopropyl)tri – methoxysilane (AM) (Al2O3 Fe-AM) and methyl esters of linseed oil fatty acids (biodiesel – BD) (Al2O3 Fe-BD) used as a reinforcement in different acrylic composites. Composites with 1, 3 and 5 wt. % of surface modified alumina particles in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and dimethyl itaconate (DMI) matrix were prepared. The mechanical properties of the prepared composites are compared to a neat polymer matrix and were determined by micro Vickers hardness, impact testing and cavitation. The morphology of the surface of the composites exposed to cavitation was observed through a field emission scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. Better mechanical properties were demonstrated by the composites with Al2O3 Fe-AM particles.",
