AB - Green hydroxyapatite ceramics were obtained by cold uniaxial and isostatic pressing of hydrothermally synthesized powders, pure hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite doped with Ag+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions. The ceramics were conventionally and microwave sintered and analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The effect of doping on the mechanical properties of the obtained hydroxyapatite/tricakium phosphate ceramics was examined by comparing their average grain size, porosity and values of the hardness and fracture toughness. The results showed that doping with Cu(2+ )ions caused the lowest porosity of the ceramics and the highest values of hardness and fracture toughness. The ceramics obtained from hydroxyapatite doped with Ag( )(+)and Zn2+ ions exhibited worse mechanical properties due to the higher porosity even in the case of microwave sintering, which provide denser ceramics than conventional sintering.

AB - A process of obtaining N-doped TiO2 nanotubes sensitized by CdS nanoparticles is presented, including detailed characterizations performed along the synthesis. Transparent TiO2 films consisting of nanotubes, 2.5 mu m long and of similar to 60 nm inner diameter, were obtained after anodization of a titanium film deposited onto FTO glass substrate. N-doping was achieved by annealing of TiO2 film in ammonia. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy measurements showed that nitrogen was substitutionally incorporated in the TiO2 matrix, with the N:Ti concentration ratio of 1:100. The doping changed the optical properties of the material in such a way that the absorption edge was shifted from 380 nm to 507 nm, as observed from diffuse reflectance spectra. The influence of the microwave (MW) irradiation on the synthesized CdS quantum dots and their optical properties was investigated. It was shown that the diameter of CdS nanoparticles was increased due to releasing of S-2-ions from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as a consequence of the MW treatment. The (N)TiO2 films were then used as substrates for matrix assisted pulsed laser deposition of the CdS quantum dots with DMSO as a matrix. The laser parameters for the deposition were optimized in order to preserve the nanotubular structure open, the latter being an important feature of this type of photoanode. The structure obtained under optimized conditions has an additional absorption edge shift, reaching 603 nm.

AB - The sorption of Ni2+ on sepiolite functionalized by covalent grafting of N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl] ethylenediamine triacetic acid trisodium salt, MSEAS, was studied in batch experiments as a function of the initial metal concentration, the equilibration time, the pH value and the temperature. The modification of sepiolite resulted in enhanced Ni2+ retention with a capacity of 0.261 mmol g(-1) at 298 K. The retention of Ni2+ occurred dominantly by specific sorption and exchange of Mg2+ from the sepiolite structure. The sorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. The sorption equilibrium results were best described by the non-linear form of the Langmuir sorption equation. The values of the thermodynamic parameters (changes of enthalpy, free energy and entropy) were calculated from temperature dependent sorption isotherms and their values showed that the sorption of Ni2+ onto modified sepiolite was endothermic.

AB - The modern and rapidly developing paper and board industry requires more efficient agents for the surface of paper in order to improve the mechanical properties. The starch coating used for the reinforcement of schrenz (110g/m(2)) contained ultrasonicated nanoparticles of the mineral sepiolite. The viscosity of starch dispersions modified with different concentration of sepiolite was followed at the temperature of the coating on schrenz. The values of the breaking length, bursting strength and CMT-strength of the paper reinforced with modified starch were increased by up to 20%. The viscoelastic properties as storage modulus were increased, too. Scanning electron microscopy of the samples showed deagglomeration and homogeneity of the sepiolite nanoparticles.

AB - Natural sepiolite from Andrici (Serbia) was functionalized by covalent grafting of N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine triacetic acid trisodium salt onto the Si-OH sepiolite groups. The functionalized material, MSEAS, was characterized by determination of the phase composition by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, analysis of the morphological characteristics by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, differential thermal analyses (DTA), determination of the specific surface areas and pore size distribution using the BET method and point of zero charge (pH(pzc)) determination. The crystal structure of sepiolite did not change significantly upon surface modification. The FT-IR and DTA analyses confirmed that the modified sample maintained the basic structure of sepiolite and the presence of organic groups in the functionalized sepiolite sample. The point of zero charge of MSEAS in KNO3 solutions of different concentrations, determined by the batch technique, was at pH 7.0 +/- 0.1.

AB - Aspartame is an artificial sweetener of low caloric value (approximately 200 times sweeter than sucrose). Aspartame is currently permitted for use in food and beverage production in more than 90 countries. The application of aspartame in food products requires development of rapid, inexpensive and accurate method for its determination. The new assay for determination of aspartame was based on set of reactions that are catalyzed by three different enzymes: α-chymotrypsin, alcohol oxidase and horseradish peroxidase. Optimization of the proposed method was carried out for: i) α-chymotrypsin activity; ii) time allowed for α-chymotrypsin action, iii) temperature. Evaluation of the developed method was done by determining aspartame content in 'diet' drinks, as well as in artificial sweetener pills.

abstract = "Aspartame is an artificial sweetener of low caloric value (approximately 200 times sweeter than sucrose). Evaluation of the developed method was done by determining aspartame content in 'diet' drinks, as well as in artificial sweetener pills., Aspartam je veštački zaslađivač niske kalorijske vrednosti, približno 200 puta slađi od saharoze.

AB - We report on thin film deposition by matrix-assisted pulsed laser evaporation of simple hydroxyapatite (HA) or silver (Ag) doped HA combined with the natural biopolymer organosolv lignin (Lig) (Ag:HA-Lig). Solid cryogenic target of aqueous dispersions of Ag:HA-Lig composite and its counterpart without silver (HA-Lig) were prepared for evaporation using a KrF* excimer laser source. The expulsed material was assembled onto TiO2/Ti substrata or silicon wafers and subjected to physical-chemical investigations. Smooth, uniform films adherent to substratum were observed. The chemical analyses confirmed the presence of the HA components, but also evidenced traces of Ag and Lig. Deposited HA was Ca deficient, which is indicative of a film with increased solubility. Recorded X-ray Diffraction patterns were characteristic for amorphous films. Lig presence in thin films was undoubtedly proved by both X-ray Photoelectron and Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy analyses. The microbiological evaluation showed that the newly assembled surfaces exhibited an inhibitory activity both on the initial steps of biofilm forming, and on mature bacterial and fungal biofilm development. The intensity of the antibiofilm activity was positively influenced by the presence of the Lig and/or Ag, in the case of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida famata biofilms. The obtained surfaces exhibited a low cytotoxicity toward human mesenchymal stem cells, being therefore promising candidates for fabricating implantable biomaterials with increased biocompatibility and resistance to microbial colonization and further biofilm development.

AB - Covalent sidewall functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) has been performed using two approaches, direct and indirect cycloaddition through diethyl malonate, based on the Bingel reaction. The results revealed that functionalized MWCNTs demonstrated enhanced electrical properties and significantly lower sheet resistance, especially after electric field thermal assisted annealing at 80 degrees C was performed. The presence of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds caused the surface of MWCNTs to be more hydrophilic, approachable for the electrolyte and improved the capacitance performance of Au/MWCNTs electrodes. The modified MWCNTs have been incorporated into nanocomposites by using solution mixing method with polyaniline and drop-casting resulting mixture on the paper substrate. The reduction in the sheet resistance with increasing the content of MWCNTs in the prepared nanocomposite films has been achieved.

AB - Reducing the sulfur content of diesel fuels may require adjusted operation of low-pressure hydrotreater units. A mathematical model for co-hydrotreating of straight run gas oil blended with fluid catalytic cracking naphtha and light cycle oil was developed using an axial distribution of phase equilibrium and effective wetting in the catalytic reactor. The model assumes that hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodearomatization reactions occur on the catalyst surface which is in contact with the vapor or liquid phase. Kinetic equations of HougenWatson type were used to describe HDS reactions for different classes of sulfur compounds. Model results were validated using the industrial test run data, and very good predictions of overall sulfur conversion and reactor temperature were obtained. Simulations of reactor operation at different pressures, temperatures, and H-2 purities confirm that reaction pressures of around 100 bar and high-purity hydrogen streams are required for almost complete removal of sulfur compounds.

AB - Nanostructural TiO2/modified multi-wall carbon nanotubes photocatalysts were prepared by hydrolysis of Ti(iso-OC3H7)(4) providing chemical bonding of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles onto oxidized- or amino-functionalized multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). The processes of functionalization of the MWCNT and the deposition of TiO2 influence the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized nanocomposites. The phase composition, crystallite size, and the structural and surface properties of the obtained TiO2/modified-MWCNT nanocomposite were analyzed from XRD, FEG-SEM, TEM/HRTEM and FTIR data, as well low temperature N-2 adsorption. In the photocatalytic study, the TiO2/oxidized-MWCNT catalyst showed the highest and the TiO2/amino functionalized-MWCNT catalysts somewhat lower degradation rates, indicating that the enhancement of photocatalysis was supported by the more effective electron transfer properties of the oxygen- than amino-containing functional groups, which support the efficient charge transportation and separation of the photogenerated electron-hole pairs.

AB - The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of Sr- and Mn-doped ions on the sintering behaviors, microstructure and mechanical properties of the bioceramics processed by single- and two-step microwave sintering (MWSSS and MWTSS). Nano-sized calcium hydroxyapatite powders doped with Sr and Mn ions, obtained by modified precipitation synthesis, were isostatically pressed at 400 MPa and processed by MWSSS and MWTSS at different temperatures. In all cases during the sintering, the doped HAP powders turned into biphasic mixtures of HAP and TCP, but the amount of TCP was certainly lower in the case of MWTSS. It was shown that the doped ions significantly affected: density, microstructure, grain size, porosity, hardness, and fracture toughness of the processed bioceramics. Two-step microwave sintering was successfully applied for the processing of HAP/TCP bioceramics doped with strontium and manganese ions. Both two-step microwave sintered doped bioceramics had similar and high hardness values, but the strontium-substituted bioceramic material certainly had higher fracture toughness (1.54 MPam(1/2)), with an average grain size of 195 nm. Based on the results presented in this paper, it was concluded that the two-step microwave sintered strontium-doped bioceramics could be suitable materials in the bone regenerative field.

AB - Hydroxyapatite (HAp) powders doped with Ag+ or Cu2+ were synthesized by a hydrothermal method in order to obtain biomaterial with an antimicrobial effect. The synthesis was performed with two contents of dopant (Ag+ or Cu2+) by considering both the antimicrobial activities and biocompatibility of the powders. The doped HAp was annealed at 1200 C for 2 h with the intention of investigating the influence of doping with Ag+ and Cu2+ on the creation of the biphasic HAp/alpha-tricalcium phosphate (HAp/a-TCP) and determining the antimicrobial activity and biocompatibility of the obtained biphasic powders. Analyses of all powders, undoped and doped HAp and HAp/a-TCP, were performed by Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) and energydispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The in vitro antibacterial activities of the powders were evaluated against: Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia co li, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albi cans. All powders showed good antimicrobial activity but generally the powders of doped HAp/a-TCP had more uniform results against all pathogenic microorganisms than the powders of doped HAp. In vitro biocompatibility tests, MU and DET, were used to evaluate the biocompatibility of Ag+- and Cu2+-doped HAp/a-TCP with MRC-5 human fibroblast cells. These tests confirmed that powders do not have a cytotoxic effect. The HAp/a-TCP powders doped with the lower content of Ag+ and Cu2+ showed especially good biocompatibility. Antimicrobial and biocompatibility tests recommend the Ag+- and Cu2+-doped HAp/a-TCP as promising material for use in reconstructive surgery of bone.

AB - Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotubes arrays, obtained by anodization technique and annealing, were decorated with CdS using pulsed laser deposition method. Their structural, morphological and chemical characterization was carried out by electron microscopy in scanning (SEM) and transmission (TEM) modes, combined with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). It was demonstrated that the quantity of deposited CdS can be controlled by varying the number of laser pulses. The chemical mapping of the elements of interest was performed using the energy filtered mode of the electron microscope. The results showed that pulse laser deposition is an adequate technique for deposition of CdS inside and between 100 nm wide TiO2 nanotubes. The diffuse reflectance spectroscopy investigation of selected samples proved that the absorption edge of the prepared CdS/TiO2 nanocomposites is significantly extended to the visible range. The corresponding band gaps were determinated from the Tauc plot of transformed Kubelka-Munk function. The band gap reduction of TiO2 nanotubes by pulsed laser deposition of CdS was put in evidence.

AB - Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) have been functionalized by dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in air. The extent of functionalization of MWCNTs and GNPs reaches a maximum at the delivered discharge energy of 720 and 240J mg(-1), respectively. Further exposure to plasma leads to reduction of functional groups from the surface of the treated nanomaterials. It has also been demonstrated that DBD plasma does not produce dramatic structural changes in MWCNTs, while flakes of the treated GNPs become thinner and smaller in the lateral size. Conductive thin films, obtained by drop casting a solution of the treated nanomaterials in N-methyl-1-pyrrolidone on poly(methyl methacrylate) substrate, show significantly lower sheet resistance.

AB - The protocols for the preparation of dendritic cells (DCs) as cancer vaccines based on stimulation of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are very promising. In this study we covalently attached 7-thia-8-oxoguanosine (7-TOG), a selective endosomal TLR7, to previously oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (o-MWCNTs) (mass ratio 1:5.6, respectively), and tested their ability to activate human monocyte-derived (Mo)DCs. Light, confocal and transmission electron microscopy confirmed efficient phagocytosis of 7-TOG-MWCNTs by MoDCs and their efficient delivery to TLR7(+) endosomes. The biocompatibility studies showed that 7-TOG-MWCNTs, at concentrations lower than 100 mu g/ml, were not cytotoxic for MoDCs. 7-TOG-MV/CNTs (50 mu g/ml) up-regulated CD86 expression, allostimulatory activity, T helper (Th)1- and Th17-polarizing capability of MoDCs. The same concentration of soluble 7-TOG, alone or in combination with control o-MWCNTs, did not have such effects. It can be hypothesized that the efficacy of 7-TOG-MWCNTs in stimulating MoDCs was a consequence of increased intracellular concentration of 7-TOG after internalization of the nano-complexes, because similar Th-polarizing capability could be induced with 10-times higher concentrations of soluble 7-TOG. In conclusion, our results suggest that functionalized MWCNTs may be a promising system for the delivery of drugs to intracellular targets, in order to improve the immunogenic potential of DCs for therapeutic purposes.

AB - Ruthenium doped titanium oxide support was synthesized. The support was characterized by BET (Brunauer, Emmett, Teller) and X-ray diffraction techniques (XRD). Determined specific surface area was 41 m(2) g(-1). XRD revealed presence mainly TiO2 anatase phase and some peaks belonging to rutile phase. No Ru compounds have been detected. Platinum based catalyst on this support was prepared by borohydride reduction method. The catalyst was characterized by scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM, HAADF) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). Homogenous Pt particle distribution over the support, with average Pt nanoparticle diameter of 3 nm was found. This novel catalyst was tested for oxygen reduction in acid solution. It exhibited remarkable higher catalytic activity in comparison with Pt/C, as well as with Pt nanocatalysts at titanium oxide based supports, reported in literature. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. AB - Hydroxyapatite is the most suitable biocompatible material for bone implant coatings. However, its brittleness is a major obstacle, and that is why, recently, research focused on creating composites with various biopolymers. In this study, hydroxyapatite coatings were modified with lignin in order to attain corrosion stability and surface porosity that enables osteogenesis. Incorporating silver, well known for its antimicrobial properties, seemed the best strategy for avoiding possible infections. The silver/hydroxyapatite (Ag/HAP) and silver/hydroxyapatite/lignin (Ag/HAP/Lig) coatings were cathaphoretically deposited on titanium from ethanol suspensions, sintered at 900 degrees C in Ar, and characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The corrosion stability of electrodeposited coatings was evaluated in vitro in Kokubo's simulated body fluid (SBF) at 37 degrees C using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Bioactivity was estimated by immersion in SBF to evaluate the formation of hydroxyapatite on the coating surface. A microcrystalline structure of newly formed plate-shaped carbonate-hydroxyapatite was detected after only 7 days, indicating enhanced bioactive behavior. Both coatings had good corrosion stability during a prolonged immersion time. Among the two, the Ag/HAP/Lig coating had a homogeneous surface, less roughness, and low values of contact angle.

AB - Silver doped hydroxyapatite (HAP) [Ca9.95Ag0.05(PO4)(6)(OH)(2)] composite coatings with natural polymer organosolv lignin (Lig) were produced by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) on titanium. Coatings were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The corrosion stability of electrodeposited coatings was evaluated in vitro in Kokubo's simulated body fluid (SBF) at 37 degrees C using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Antimicrobial properties are directly proportional to the rate of silver ions release from the coatings, determined from inductively coupled plasma spectrometry (ICP-AES). The obtained results are in good agreement with viability of pathogenic bacteria strain Staphylococcus aureus TL in suspension, which had completely disappeared after 24 h. Composite Ag/HAP/Lig coatings were confirmed as non-toxic for healthy immunocompetent peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC).

AB - Cordierite powders synthesized by colloidal and alkoxide sol-gel methods were conventionally and spark-plasma sintered. The powders for the sintering investigations were obtained by calcination of the gels at a temperature where alpha-cordierite is formed (crystalline powders) or at a temperature where densification without crystallization of silica-containing component occurred (amorphous powders). All the calcinated gels were ground for 3 h, uniaxial pressed at 400 MPa and sintered conventionally at 1400, 1430 and 1450 degrees C for 2 h. In order to improve the sintering behavior of the cordierite powders, spark-plasma sintering (SPS) was applied. The microstructures and the phase composition of the obtained cordierite materials were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction analysis and the mechanical properties of the materials were determined. It was shown that the sinterability of the colloidal powders was much better than that of the alkoxide powders. Conventional sintering at 1400 degrees C of the crystalline powder produced by the colloidal method gave the material of the best mechanical properties. The sinterability of the crystalline alkoxide cordierite powder was highly improved by spark-plasma sintering at a lower sintering temperature (1350 degrees C), for a very short period of tithe (7 min). The density of the obtained material was very close to the theoretical density of alpha-cordierite and the mechanical properties were better than those of materials obtained by conventional sintering.

AB - This work reports the preparation of PMMA/silica nanocomposites with high optical transparency and enhanced mechanical properties using a melt compounding method. The surface of SiO2 particles was modified with a gamma-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxy silane coupling agent in a supercritical carbon dioxide-ethanol mixture and by conventional procedure. Dispersion of silica nanoparticles in ethanol at low temperatures plays an important role in deagglomeration and dispersion of nanosilica, which leads to the optimal particle-matrix bonding in composites. The optimal mechanical and optical properties were found for composites loaded with 5 wt% silica nanoparticles treated under supercritical coating method.

AB - This research has provided information about the influence of alkali cations (Na+ and K+) on the mechanical properties and durability of fly ash based geopolymers. The results have shown that alkali cations have a strong influence on the mechanical properties of fly ash based geopolymers. K-geopolymers generally reach a higher value of compressive strength in comparison to Na- geopolymers. On the other hand, microstructure and phase composition of fly ash based geopolymers are not influenced by the nature of alkali cations. The ratio of main gel structure forming elements is practically not affected by the nature of alkali cations. Durability of fly ash based geopolymers in different aquatic environments is greatly dependent on the choice of alkali cations. Na-geopolymers are generally more resistant in water and aggressive environments than the K-geopolymers. The best durability of fly ash based geopolymers was observed in sea water.

AB - Composites based on HAP and oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (o-MWCNT) and monophase HAP materials were processed by spark plasma sintering. Starting from stoichiometric nano-sized HAP powder, monophase bioceramics were obtained with a density close to the theoretical one and with an average grain size of several hundred nanometers to micron dimensions. It was shown that decreasing the sintering temperature resulted in a decrease of the grain size, which affected an increase in the fracture toughness and hardness. The fracture toughness of an HAP/ o-MWCNT bioceramic processed at 900°C for only 5 min was 30 % higher than that of monophase HAP materials obtained under the same conditions. The addition of MWCNT during SPS processing of HAP materials caused a decrease in the grain size to the nano-dimension, which was one of the reasons for the improved mechanical properties.

The addition of MWCNT during SPS processing of HAP materials caused a decrease in the grain size to the nano-dimension, which was one of the reasons for the improved mechanical properties., Kompoziti na bazi hidroksiapatita i oksidovanih višeslojnih karbonskih nanotuba i monofazni hidroksiapatitni materijali dobijeni su spark plazma sinterovanjem.

AB - Two-step microwave sintering was applied in this study to process dense nano-structured bioceramics coupled with improved mechanical properties. The decrease in the average grain size to the nanolevel resulting from decreasing the sintering temperature to 850 degrees C during two-step microwave sintering, led to an increase in the fracture toughness compared to conventionally two-step sintered bioceramic. The two-step microwave sintering could be a promising technique for the processing of nanostructured HAP bioceramics.

AB - A method for the preparation of efficient TiO2/multi-wall carbon nanotubes nanocomposite photocatalysts by precipitation of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles onto differently oxidized carbon nanotubes is presented. The precursor compound titanium(IV) bromide was hydrolyzed producing pure anatase phase TiO2 nanoparticles decorated on the surface of the oxidized carbon nanotubes. The oxidative treatment of the carbon nanotubes influenced the type, quantity and distribution of oxygen-containing functional groups, which had a significant influence on the electron transfer properties, i.e., the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized nanocomposites. The results of C.I. Reactive Orange 16 photodegradation in the presence of all the synthesized nanocomposites showed their better photocatalytic activity in comparison to the commercial photocatalyst Degussa P-25.

AB - New criteria in assessing the quality of drinking water reduced the maximum permissible concentration of arsenic from 50 mu g L-1 to 10 mu g L-1 and set a requirement for the development of new technologies for arsenic removal. In this paper, ethylenediamine functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes (e-MWCNT) were loaded with iron(III) oxide in the goethite form, by precipitation of adsorbed Fe3+ and oxidized Fe2+ using base, in that way e-MWCNT/Fe3+ and e-MWCNT/Fe2+ adsorbents, respectively, were obtained. The influence of pH on the As(V) and As(III) removal from drinking water was studied in a batch system, of pH range 3-10 and initial arsenic concentration 0.05-4 mg L-1. Time dependent As(V) adsorption and adsorption data can be described by pseudo-second-order kinetic model and by Freundlich isotherm, applying linear and non-linear fitting methods. The maximum adsorption capacities obtained from Langmuir model for As(V) on e-MWCNT/Fe2+ and e-MWCNT/Fe3+ were 23.47 and 13.74 mg g(-1) at 25 degrees C. respectively. Thermodynamic parameters showed that the adsorption of As(V) was spontaneous and endothermic for both e-MWCNT/Fe2+ and e-MWCNT/Fe3+. Influences of the pH, iron(III) oxide loading and interfering ions were modeled by MINTEQ program, and good agreement between experimental and modeling data was obtained.
