dc.description.abstract | The aim of this work was preparation of the activated carbon samples with silver coating and examination of their antibacterial behavior. The rate of silver deposition at the surface of the activated carbon was tested as the consequence of concentration or volume of AgNO3 solution as well as the mass of activated carbon. Based upon the results obtained, three different samples of activated carbon were prepared, impregnated with similar amount of silver. Silver was spontaneously deposited at the surface of activated carbon emerged into AgNO3 solution. First sample was rinsed from AgNO3 residue. On other two samples the reduction of the residual AgNO3 was achieved either by temperature treatment or by chemical reduction with NaBH4. Surface composition and silver particles are shown in SEM micrographs. Resistance to attrition of the activated carbon supporting silver was tested, and the results were compared with maximum silver concentration allowed in drinking water. Antibacterial activity of these samples was determined using diffusion method on agar plate, and compared with antibacterial activity of commercial activated carbon impregnated with silver. All activated carbon samples supporting silver inhibit Escherichia coli grow. Antibacterial activity depends upon impregnation method. Chemical reduction of silver with NaBH4 appears to be the best and most efficient method for impregnation of activated carbon with silver. | en |
dc.description.abstract | Cilj ovog rada je priprema uzoraka aktivnog uglja impregnisanog srebrom i ispitivanje njihovog antibakterijskog dejstva. Ispitivana je kinetika spontanog izdvajanja srebra na površini aktivnog uglja iz rastvora AgNO3, kao i uticaj promene koncentracije i zapremine rastvora AgNO3 i mase aktivnog uglja na kinetiku izdvajanja. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata napravljena su tri uzorka aktivnog uglja, impregnisana istom količinom srebra, nanetom na različite načine. Na aktivni ugalj srebro je naneto cementacijom. Jedan od uzoraka je ispran od AgNO3 zaostalog na površini, a kod druga dva izvršena je naknadna redukcija zaostalih kristala soli termičkim ili hemijskim tretmanom natrijum bor-hidridom. Snimanje površine dobijenih uzoraka izvršeno je elektronskim mikroskopom. Metodom difuzije na agarnoj ploči određene su inhibitorne aktivnosti ovako pripremljenih uzoraka aktivnog uglja i upoređene sa inhibitornom aktivnosti komercijalnog aktivnog ugalja impregnisanog srebrom ("TRAYAL" Kruševac). Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata može se zaključiti da količina srebra izdvojena na površini aktivnog uglja, procesom spontanog izdvajanja, zavisi od koncentracije i zapremine rastvora, kao i mase aktivnog uglja. Svi uzorci aktivnog uglja impregnisani srebrom, utiču na inhibiciju rasta patogene bakterije Escherichia coli, a jačina uticaja zavisi od načina impregnacije. Najbolji i najefikasniji način impregnacije aktivnog uglja srebrom je redukcija natrijum bor-hidridom. | sr |
