AB - The surface sediments sampled from forty sampling sites in the Boka Kotorska Bay, starting from
October 2005 to December 2019, were analysed for the content of ten heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr,
Cu, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn, Fe). Five complex indices (pollution load index (PLI), potential ecological
risk index (RI), mean ERM quotient (MERMQ), toxic risk index (TRI), contamination severity
index (CSI)) were determined for each site in the study period (2005, 2007, 2013, 2019), and
statistically examined by principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA). In the
semi-enclosed Bay, which consists of four smaller bays (Kotor, Risan, Tivat, Herceg Novi bays), a
spatio-temporal comparison of sediment quality was carried out using PCA and CA analysis of the
considered pollution indices. Statistical results revealed that the increased environmental risk in
2005 was observed in the bay of Kotor; in 2007 was in the bay of Tivat and Risan; in 2013 in the
bay of Kotor and Tivat; and in 2019 was in the bay of Tivat, particularly at the shipyard site Bijela.
The PCA and CA analysis highlighted that the sediment contamination in Kotor bay decreased from
2005 to 2019, while at the same time increased in Tivat bay, which is an indication of pollution due
to urbanization and population growth in this part of the Bay. The results gave a statistical overview
of the similarities between the pollution indices and the differences in the degree of sediment
pollution in the Bay during the last two decades.

AB - The sediment was collected at forty locations in the Boka Kotorska Bay, in different seasons and
years (October 2005, June 2007, April 2013, December 2019), and analyzed using the EDXRF
method. The aim of this work was to evaluate the potential risk and compare heavy metal pollution
(As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn, Fe) of surface sediments in the period 2005-2019.
Environmental risk assessment was performed by comparative analysis of pollution indices, such as
pollution load index (PLI), potential ecological risk index (RI), mean ERM quotient (MERMQ),
toxic risk index (TRI), and contamination severity index (CSI). The average contribution of
individual metals in the total environmental risk showed the following order: Cd > Hg > As > Pb >
Ni > Cu > Cr > Zn. Accordingly, Cd represented a concern of the highest priority for the Bay
ecosystem due to its high toxicity. The results indicated that Hg concentrations showed a declining
trend in the period from 2005 to 2019. Referring to the results of all applied pollution indices, it was
established that the highest pollution was identified in 2019, particularly at the shipyard site S4,
while the lowest pollution was recorded in 2005 and 2013. The spatial distribution of pollution
indices for each investigated year revealed the most polluted sediments at sites S4 and S10 in Tivat
bay. These findings provide insight into the comparison of different indices in assessing the
sediment quality in the Boka Kotorska Bay over the last two decades.

AB - In the last decades, human and industrial activities in the coastal areas have increased and that resulted in different types of contamination, including trace elements. Therefore, investigations of the southeastern Adriatic marine environment quality are intensified following seawater, biota, and sediment quality related to metals pollution. Since standard chemical analysis methods cannot provide accurate information about concentrations of trace elements in seawater, the seagrass Posidoniaoceanica (L.) Delile and the mussel Mytilusgalloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819, were used as water pollution bioindicators for identifying, especially, toxic trace elements in the Mediterranean. Surface sediment, seawater, seagrass (P. oceanica), and mussel (M. galloprovincialis) samples were collected in different seasons from the coastal area of Boka Kotorska Bay in the last 10 years (2006–2016), and analyzed in order to determine the seawater quality mainly related to Fe, Mn, Zn, Ni, Cu, Co, Cd, As, Pb, and Hg. Based on the analysis of the metal pollution index values (MPIs) in both species the highest metal concentrations were measured in winters for most of the studied trace elements. The Hg accumulation in both investigated organisms was the lowest and almost the same.

AB - Pored uticaja prirodnih i atmosferskih faktora, negativni antropogeni uticaj u području
jugoistočnog Jadrana je u porastu poslednjih decenija. Povišeni nivo teških metala akumulira
se u površinskom sedimentu usled taloženja suspendovanih materija različitog porekla. U
ovom radu ispitivan je površinski sediment Bokokotorskog zaliva usled mogućeg zagađenja
teškim metalima primenom faktora i indeksa ekološkog rizika (EF, CF, Igeo, RI), kao i procena
životne sredine i ekološkog statusa zaliva.
AB - In addition to the influence of natural and atmospheric factors, negative anthropogenic
pressure in the area of the southeastern Adriatic have been increasing in recent decades.
Elevated level of heavy metals accumulate in the surface sediment due to the deposition of
suspended solids of different origin. In this paper, the surface sediment of the Boka Kotor Bay
was examined due to possible heavy metal pollution using environmental risk factors and
indices (EF, CF, Igeo, RI), as well as the assessment of the environment and the ecological
status of the bay.

teškim metalima primenom faktora i indeksa ekološkog rizika (EF, CF, Igeo, RI), kao i procena
životne sredine i ekološkog statusa zaliva., In addition to the influence of natural and atmospheric factors, negative anthropogenic
pressure in the area of the southeastern Adriatic have been increasing in recent decades.
Elevated level of heavy metals accumulate in the surface sediment due to the deposition of
suspended solids of different origin. In this paper, the surface sediment of the Boka Kotor Bay
was examined due to possible heavy metal pollution using environmental risk factors and
indices (EF, CF, Igeo, RI), as well as the assessment of the environment and the ecological
status of the bay.",

The optimal measuring variables for the investigated oxides and elements were determined by using five standard reference materials. The carbonated sediment type can be determined on the basis of the highest Sr, Sc, La, Nb, Hf, and Yb concentrations followed with the lowest concentrations of the remaining elements and the negative Ce anomaly. The complexity of the obtained data was also examined by principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA) in the identifying geochemical composition of the surface sediment. Boka Kotorska bay's geographical position, orographical configuration, and hydrographic characteristics influence the geochemistry model of the surface sediment, quite different from the open sea.

AB - The present study investigated the essential and non-essential elements in cultivated and wild mussels and assessed the health risk arising from their consumption as an impact of rapid growth and intensive production of Mytilus galloprovincialis in the mussel farms of the Boka Kotorska Bay. The concentrations of macro, micro, nonessential and even the small amounts of potentially toxic elements in the cultivated and wild mussels were influenced by industry, tourism and the geohydrology of the Bay. In the case of cultivated mussels, the limiting factor, i.e., the element the elevated concentration of which restricts mussels consumption, was Zr, while in the case of wild mussels the limiting factors were Cr and As. The sites with cultivated mussels stand out as sites with the highest calculated element pollution index, the total hazard index and with higher estimated risk to the health of consumers.
i zbog njihove bionerazgradive prirode.
Komercijalni uzgaoj i proizvodnja
prvenstveno stacioniranih unutar Bokokotorskog zaliva.
A i C, selena, gvožđa, cinka, joda, kalcijuma, natrijuma, bakra, magnezijuma, mangana,
kiselinom, gvožđem, selenom i vitaminom B12, respektivno.
i različite bolesti. Istraživanja mineralnog sastava pojedinih morskih organizama izuzetno

abstract = "Elementi dospevaju u životnu sredinu iz prirodnih izvora i posredstvom ljudske aktivnosti.
i zbog njihove bionerazgradive prirode.
Komercijalni uzgaoj i proizvodnja
prvenstveno stacioniranih unutar Bokokotorskog zaliva.

AB - Chemical composition and XRD qualitative analysis were used to calculate mineral contents of 139 brick clay raw materials using LPNORM. The second order polynomial models (SOP) for all the samples, which express the relation between mineral contents and the characteristics of fired laboratory products, did not fit to experimental data satisfactorily, due to low coefficients of determination (r(2)). In order to improve the models, the samples are divided into four groups in factor space (four quadrants), according to their mineral content similarity, using principal component analysis (PCA). Predictive models of compressive strength (CS), water absorption (WA), firing shrinkage (FS), weight loss during firing (WLF) and volume mass of cubes (VMC) are obtained for each of the groups. Second order polynomial (SOP) models are developed, and the influence of certain minerals to brick clay bricks quality within the groups is discussed. Developed models were able to predict the final quality of products in a wide range of mineral content and temperature treatment data, showing coefficient of determination (r(2)) in range between 0.704-0.995. In order to estimate the adequacy of these models, the results were applied to the experimental data and compared according to additional statistical tests, so the next values are determined: coefficients of determination, reduced chi-square (chi(2)), mean bias error (MBE), mean percent error (MPE) and root mean square error (RMSE).

AB - Koncentracije kadmijuma (Cd), olova (Pb), žive (Hg) i nikla (Ni) određivane su u mekom tkivu dagnji Mytilus

galloprovincialis uzorkovanim tokom 2009. godine du obale Bokokotorskog zaliva, Crna Gora.

Izmerene koncentracije Cd i Hg ograničavaju maksimalno

Bokokotorskog zaliva, respektivno.
AB - Cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) and nickel (Ni) concentrations were determined in the soft tissue of mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis collected during the year 2009 along the marine coast of Boka Kotorska Bay, Montenegro. The concentrations (mg/kg wet weight) of these metals ranged from 0.17 to 1.26 for Ni, 0.34 to 1.85 for Pb, 0.17 to 0.64 for Cd and 0.024 to 0.371 for Hg. In comparison with the permissible limits set by the European Commission and the US Food and Drug Administration, only Pb concentration in mussels from location Krasici in spring 2009 was higher than the permissible limits. The impact of each trace metal on consumer health was considered through the target hazard quotient (THQ) for average and high level mussels consumers in order to evaluate possible alert regarding adverse health effects that may be caused by trace metals individually. THQ values for mean trace metal concentrations in mussels, for both general and high level mussels consumers, are lower than one indicating that a daily exposure is not likely to cause any negative health effects during a lifetime in a human population. In relation to trace metals concentrations found in mussels from different sites the smallest amount of mussels can be consumed from site Krasici and the greatest from site Perast. Measured trace metals concentrations of Cd and Hg limit maximum allowable consumption on 5.4 and 3.7 meals of 250 g per week for wild and farmed mussels from Boka Kotorska Bay, respectively.

AB - Considering the growing concern due to different levels of anthropogenic loadings, the main purpose of this study was to identify the levels of trace metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Co, Ni, Cd, Pb and Hg) in the mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis sampled along the marine coast of Boka Kotorska Bay, Montenegro. In comparison with the permissible limits set by the EU and the US FDA, all trace metal concentrations found in the mussels from the coastal area of Boka Kotorska Bay were lower than the prescribed limits. Generally, the trace metal concentrations found in Montenegrin mussels are within the range of trace metal concentrations determined in low to moderately polluted Adriatic areas. Based on these and other available literature data published by other authors for Adriatic region, the public health risks associated with the consumption of mussels in relation to reported trace metal concentrations were evaluated. In terms of the obtained trace metals concentrations in mussels and the provisional tolerable weekly intake prescribed by the JECFA and oral reference doses by the US EPA, the Pb and Cd concentrations and the Co and Cd concentrations were recognized as the limiting factor for the consumption of mussels from some Adriatic areas, respectively. AB - Surface sediments, mussels, seagrass, surface and bottom seawater samples were collected from the costal area of the southeastern Adriatic Sea and analyzed in order to determine the concentration and origin of the following elements: Fe, Mn, Zn, Ni, Cu, Ni, Co, As, Cd, Cr and Hg. The complexity of the obtained data was reduced by principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA), methods well known and accepted for the identification of the quality of marine environments. Both PCA and CA analysis were used to discriminate groups of samples according to the similarity of their chemical composition. The results revealed good diversity between the various samples, expressed by their distinctive positions of points in factor space. PCA indicated that the first two PC components explained about 73, 48, 43, 48, and 50 % of the total variance of the data for sediments, mussels, seagrass, and surface and bottom water, respectively. The results showed good discrimination capabilities between the samples taken from different locations, and also different seasons, which was especially evident in the surface and bottom water samples. Simultaneously, PCA/CA analysis of the amounts of trace elements found in the marine organisms could explain the manner of their bioaccumulation.

AB - This study is focused on the behavior of five new deposits of heavy clays from Serbia, with the aim to evaluate their potential suitability as raw materials in rough ceramic applications. The Pfefferkorn plasticity coefficient (PC) and drying susceptibility using Bigot’s curve were measured for each raw sample. Thermodilatometric analysis (TDA) showed the behaviour of dry products during firing. Samples groups were fired in the range of 850°C - 1000°C. Water absorption capacity (WAC) and compressive strength (CS) were done in order to characterize clays after firing. Linear regression models were used to fit the results. Mathematical tools were used to determine statistical difference of major oxides content, shaping moist and compressive strength of dry laboratory products, using post-hoc Tukey`s HSD test. The chemical and mineralogical compositions of samples do not differ considerably, but their possible application does. All studied clays seem to be easily adaptable to a correct brick making process.

AB - The aim of the present investigation was to quantify the levels of trace elements (Zn, Cu, As, Pb, Cd and total Hg) in the Mediterranean mussel, Mytilus galloprovincialis (L.). Based on their levels, the quality of Montenegro seawater for future mussel farming was estimated. The mussel M. galloprovincialis (L.) was collected from four sites in the Montenegrin costal area in the period of two years to determine trace element concentrations and to classify the quality of the coastal water and possible health risks from its consumption. The mean metal concentrations in the mussels ranged from 133.5-205.9 for Zn, 7.50-14.5 for Cu, 4.42-13.3 for As, 4.70-12.9 for Pb, 1.73-2.41 for Cd and 0.07-0.59 for total Hg in mg/kg dry weight. The levels of toxic metals (except for Pb) in the mussels were within the maximum residual levels prescribed by the laws of Montenegro, the EU and the USFDA. In addition, the trace metal concentrations found in the mussels in this study were similar to regional data using this mussel as a biomonitoring agent of seawater quality.

AB - Sa povećanjem korišćenja morskih plodova u ishrani u poslednjih nekoliko godina,
školjke su postale komercijalno važna vrsta u svetu. Zahvaljujući sadržaju proteina,
kalcijuma i gvožđa, vitamina, omega-3 masnih kiselina, selena i joda, školjka predstavlja značajnu namirnicu u ishrani ljudi.
slučaju kadmijuma i 940 g u slučaju olova.

AB - Macroporous crosslinked poly(glycidyl methacrylate-co-ethylene glycol
dimethacrylate) copolymer, poly(GME), was synthesized by radical suspension
copolymerization and modified with ethylenediamine, EDA. Useability of poly(glycidyl
methacrylate-co-ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate) copolymer with attached EDA, poly(GME)-en,
for the noble metals sorption from aqueous solutions was investigated. Sorption rate and
capacities of poly(GME)-en for gold, platinum and rhodium, as well as pH dependence of Pt4+
ions sorption under non-competitive conditions were determined.
