AB - The present paper demonstrates a simple way for revalorization of differently softened cotton and cotton/elastane knitted fabric waste collected from the textile industry. Such waste was used as an adsorbent for Congo Red (CR) dye, whereby up to 96% removal efficiency was reached. The CR adsorption process onto cationic and silicone softened fabrics is in conformity with Langmuir (with maximum adsorption capacity of 12.533 mg/g) and Freundlich isotherms, respectively. Different adsorption of CR onto cationic and silicone softened fabrics is ascribed to the different softeners’ fixation to them, while the adsorption of CR operates in the same manner, via hydrophobic interactions. The adsorption kinetic data follow the pseudo-second-order model, while the equilibrium was reached after 90 min. Additionally, this study proposed a new circular economy solution for the disposal of fabric waste with adsorbed CR generating additional revenues. The volume electrical resistivity measurements confirmed that the knitted fabric wastes with adsorbed CR have 169–737 times lower resistivities (0.008–0.037 GΩ·cm) than before the adsorption. The inversely proportional correlation between fabrics’ adsorption efficiencies and their volume electrical resistivities after CR adsorption was found. Such knitted fabric waste with adsorbed CR could be defined as dissipative materials and could be used for providing antistatic protection.

AB - In this study, the structural characteristics of plain weft-knitted fabrics both before and after pilling were analyzed, and evaluated their tendency to develop surface fuzz and pilling. Five knitted fabrics made from flax yarn, each with different structural features as the number of wales, courses, mass per unit area, and thickness, were examined. To induce pilling, a Martindale device with two different abrasives: the investigated knitted fabric and a wool woven fabric, was used. The obtained results revealed that the grade of pilling decreased as the number of rubs increased, and that using the investigated knitted fabric as an abrasive resulted in lower grades of pilling. Regardless the pilling was caused by the investigated knitted fabric or the wool woven fabric, a reduction in all examined structural characteristics of the knitted fabrics after pilling, was observed.

AB - The structural characteristics, compression, and strength properties of knitted fabrics, before and after washing, were investigated in this paper. The experimental material consisted of three plain weft-knitted fabrics produced of cotton, wool, and organic wool. The structural characteristics of the knitted fabrics were analyzed by measuring the number of courses and wales per centimeter, stitch density, yarn loop length, weight, and thickness. The compression properties were determined by measuring compressibility, thickness loss, and compressive resilience. The strength properties were investigated by measuring the bursting strength and ball traverse elongation. The results showed that stitch density and raw material composition affect compression properties, raw material composition affects strength properties, and washing affects structural characteristics, compression, and strength properties of knitted fabrics. After washing, all knitted fabrics increased in the number of courses and wales per centimeter, stitch density, weight, thickness, compressibility, thickness loss, and ball traverse elongation, and decreased in compressive resilience and bursting strength. Additionally, shrinkage of the knitted fabrics was observed after washing. Also, cotton and organic wool fabrics decreased in yarn loop length, while wool knitted fabric increased in yarn loop length after washing.

AB - The quality of cotton and cotton/elastane single jersey knitted fabrics before and after softening was evaluated through their mechanical properties, pilling, and volume electrical resistivity. Elastane-containing fabrics have higher bursting elongation and stiffness, lower bursting strength, the same or higher pilling grade, and 23–27% lower electrical resistivities compared to 100% cotton due to the increased compactness that enables better contact between the loops, and easier flow of charge through them. Softening does not affect or slightly improves the fabric pilling (up to 1000 cycles); it decreases fabrics’ stiffness and increases their bursting strength and electrical resistivities. The last one was significantly decreased after the in situ synthesis of Cu-based nanoparticles on fabrics’ surfaces. Namely, fabrics were first treated with sodium alginate whose carboxylate groups crosslinked Cu2+-ions (from CuSO4 solution) that were further reduced with ascorbic acid. In situ synthesis of Cu-based nanoparticles (detected by FESEM) improves the fabrics’ quality and enables obtaining multifunctional fabrics having 3.4–9.6 times lower resistivities, which are in line with the content of Cu after reduction (determined using ICP-OES), up to 2.5 times higher antioxidant activity and provided maximum microbial reduction for E. Coli, S. aureus, and C. albicans.

AB - This study investigates the knitted fabrics' air permeability and water vapor resistance as complex phenomena of the interaction between the fiber nature, fabric structural characteristics and, different wet processes. Bleaching and dyeing together with the content of elastane are the main factors determining fabric structural characteristics. 100% cotton fabrics have a higher intensity of warm/cool feeling since they have higher air permeability than elastane containing fabrics. The air permeability and water vapor resistance of elastane containing fabrics decreased after the wet processes, whereby the bleached knitted fabrics showed higher air permeability and lower water vapor resistance than dyed. Decreased air permeability and increased water vapor resistance of softened elastane containing fabrics are governed by the cationic softener pick-up mechanism. Namely, the cationic softener is deposited on the yarns' surfaces; its hydrophobic carbon ends repel from each other. This acts as a barrier for air which contributes to an increase in the fabric water vapor resistance. The softened dyed knitted fabrics have lower air permeability and slightly higher water vapor resistance than softened bleached fabrics which may be attributed to the interaction between reactive dyestuff and cationic softener. The comfort properties quality of finished knitted fabrics decreased with elastane incorporation and with softening.

AB - In this investigation, the electro-physical properties (DC volume electrical resistivity, and AC-specific electrical conductivity) of woven fabrics (cotton, cotton/polyester, and flax in plain weave and cotton in satin weave), before and after abrasion on Martindale device (under a pressure of 9 and/or 12 kPa) were examined. The obtained results revealed that the cotton fabric in satin weave has the lowest resistivity and the highest conductivity. In contrast, the lowest conductivity and the highest resistivity before abrasion were observed for cotton/polyester fabric due to its lowest moisture content. Furthermore, a decrease in the conductivity and increase in the resistivity of cotton/polyester and flax fabrics in plain weave, and cotton fabric in satin weave, as well as an increase in the conductivity and decrease in resistivity of cotton fabric in plain weave were registered after abrasion at 9 kPa. After abrasion at 12 kPa cotton and cotton/polyester blend fabrics in plain weave have higher resistivity and lower conductivity than before abrasion and after abrasion at a pressure of 9 kPa. Abrasion leads to a deterioration of the fabrics' electro-physical properties and thus their comfort, especially in the case of cotton/polyester blend fabric when the pressure of 12 kPa was applied.

AB - In this work, the quality of four plain single jersey weft-knitted fabrics (produced from the same flax yarn) having different structural characteristics (stitch density, weight, and thickness) before and after pilling, was examined. The quality of knitted fabrics was evaluated in terms of their compression (compressibility, thickness loss, and compressive resilience), comfort (air permeability and water retention), and strength (bursting strength and ball traverse elongation) properties. The obtained results revealed that the fabric with the lowest structural characteristic values has the highest compressibility, thickness loss, and air permeability, while the least compressive resilience, water retention, bursting strength, and ball traverse elongation, both before and after pilling. Pilling causes a decrease of compressibility, thickness loss, air permeability, water retention (for three lightweight fabrics), bursting strength, and ball traverse elongation but an increase in compressive resilience and water retention (for the most compact fabric). All studied knitted fabrics have excellent quality before pilling and excellent to good quality after pilling. A pilling leads to a decrease in the quality of all fabrics, especially of those with the least compact structure. Sample with moderate compactness possesses the best overall quality.

AB - This work aimed to obtain jute fabrics suitable for the production of inexpensive technical textiles by using simple alkali treatments. The influences of alkali concentration (1–17.5 % NaOH) and treatment duration (5–30 min) on the fabrics’ compression properties, abrasion resistance, and sound absorption coefficient were studied in detail. With increasing the treatment severity, the fabric compressibility decreases by 19.6–33.9 % due to increased fabric compactness. In parallel, the fiber crystallinity index and hemicellulose content decrease, while the fibers’ interfibrillar regions become less dense and less rigid contributing to 19.0–27.0 % better recoverability after compression. The mercerized fabrics possessed a notably lower mass loss (4.1–5.9 %) after 750 abrasion cycles compared to the other investigated fabrics (18.9–30.9 %), which could be ascribed to the higher friction forces existing between the yarns within the mercerized fabrics and between the fibers within the yarns, as well as higher elongation at maximum force. In the case of the fabrics treated for 5 or 15 min with different NaOH concentrations, their mass losses during abrasion decrease with increasing the elementary fiber liberation, while the sound absorption coefficients increase with increasing the fabric compactness. Mercerized fabrics are capable of absorbing about 28 % to 2.7 times (at 990 Hz) and 2.0 to 2.4 times (at 4090 Hz) higher mechanical sound energy compared to the untreated fabric. The jute fabric mercerized during 30 min could be used for the production of carpet backings, while those mercerized during 5 min is the most suitable for the production of sound-absorbing materials.

AB - This work aimed to investigate the quality of three plain single jersey weft-knitted fabrics produced from the same flax yarn but with different structural characteristics. The quality of knitted fabrics was evaluated in terms of their electro-physical and compression properties. DC volume electrical resistivity and dielectric properties (effective relative dielectric permeability and AC specific electrical conductivity) were examined in the scope of this investigation. Compressibility and compressive resilience were selected to determine the influence of compression properties on the quality of the knitted fabrics. The current study showed that the sample with the highest stitch density, weight, thickness, moisture content, and the lowest porosity, has the lowest DC volume electrical resistivity and compressibility, but the highest effective relative dielectric permeability, AC specific electrical conductivity, and compressive resilience. Based on the application of the ranking method, the best quality sfowed the knitted fabric with the most compact structure and the highest moisture content; the worst quality was manifested by the knitted fabric with the least compact structure and the lowest moisture content.
U okviru ovog istraživanja ispitivana su specifična zapreminska električna otpornost i dielektrična svojstva (efektivna relativna dielektrična propustljivost i specifična električna provodljivost).

AB - The aim of this work was to investigate the volume electrical resistivity of three plain single jersey weft-knitted fabrics produced from the same flax yarn but with different structural characteristics. The influence of structural characteristics of knitted fabrics (number of courses, mass per unit area, and thickness), atmospheric conditions (relative air humidity and temperature), as well as pilling caused by abrading knitted fabrics with the same knitted fabric, on the volume electrical resistivity of knitted fabrics, were examined in the scope of this investigation. The study showed that the increase in structural characteristics leads to a decrease in the volume resistivity of knitted fabrics. A decrease in air humidity causes an increase in the volume resistivity of investigated knitted fabrics. An increase in temperature causes a decrease in volume resistivity in all examined knitted fabrics. Furthermore, a decrease in the volume resistivity for all knitted fabrics after pilling was registered.

AB - This study aims to obtain multifunctional jute fabrics by using simple alkali
and oxidative protocols. Performed chemical treatments contributed to obtaining jute fabrics
with enhanced electro-physical and sorption properties. Moreover, the jute fabrics were
functionalized by incorporation of Ag+ (resulted in decreased volume electrical resistivity
and excellent antibacterial activity) and in-situ synthesis of Cu-based nanoparticles (resulted
in 38-88 times higher energy storage from an external electric field). Following the increased
focus on the concept of circular economy, the possibility of jute fabric waste revalorization
for wastewater purification (from Cu2+, Zn2+, Ni2+) was examined.
upotrebom jednostavnih alkalnih i oksidativnih postupaka.
smanjenom specifičnom zapreminskom električnom otpornošću i odličnom antibakterijskom

AB - Simple chemical modifications by using 17.5 % NaOH (for 5, 15, or 30 min) were applied to obtain
jute fabrics suitable for various types of technical textiles such as carpet backing and advanced
protective textiles, i.e., protective clothing in environments sensitive to electrical discharges. The raw, as well as mercerized jute fabrics, were characterized in terms of their chemical composition
(cellulose and hemicellulose content), structural characteristics (fabric weight, thickness, and
porosity), and fibbers’ surface morphology (determined by FESEM). In order to assess their ability
for utilization as technical textiles, the compression properties (compressibility and compression
resilience), abrasion resistance (by determining mass loss after 750 and 1000 cycles), and volume
electrical resistivity were studied. The obtained results revealed that with prolonging the
mercerization duration from 5 up to 30 min, the hemicellulose content decreased, fabrics'
compactness increases contributing to decreased compressibility and increased compression
resilience. Concerning the abrasion resistance, a mass loss of about 19 % was observed after 750
cycles in the case of raw jute fabric, while the mercerized jute fabrics possessed up to 7.6 % mass loss even after 1000 cycles. Such behaviour could be ascribed to the higher friction force between the yarns within the mercerized fabrics and between the fibres within the yarns enabling less loss of fibres from the fabric surface. Mercerization for 5 min leads to a decrease, while those performed for 30 min resulted in an increased volume electrical resistivity.

AB - The influence of the chemical composition on the biosorption potential of waste jute fabric for Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn(2+)was investigated. The raw jute fabric was treated with sodium hydroxide or sodium chlorite to selectively remove hemicelluloses and lignin, respectively. All jute fabrics were characterized by determination of their chemical composition as well as functional group content. The effects of solution pH, contact time, and initial metal ion concentration on the biosorption from monometallic and polymetallic solution by jute fabrics were investigated. The maximum biosorption capacity for all heavy metal ions was observed at pH 5.5. Concerning the contact time, the raw jute fabric shows more than 72 % of the total uptake capacity of Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn(2+)within 1 h, while the jute fabrics with lower hemicelluloses and lignin content show between 72-85 % of the total uptake capacity within 3 h. Increased initial metal ion concentration from 10 to 20 mg/lin monometallic solution caused an increase in the total uptake capacity of jute fabrics with lower hemicelluloses and lignin content for 47-69 % (Ni2+), 42-63 % (Cu2+), and 22-37 % (Zn2+). The biosorption capacity of alkali treated jute fabrics was affected by the changes in the total amount of carboxyl and aldehyde groups that accompany the hemicelluloses removal. In the case of the oxidative treatment, the biosorption capacity was affected by the lignin content as well as the amount of introduced carboxyl groups. The best biosorption performance possesses jute fabric with 63.2 % lower lignin content as well as 81.1 % higher amount of carboxyl groups; biosorption capacity toward Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn(2+)in monometallic solution is about 2.4; 2.2 and 3.5 times higher compared to the raw jute fabric, respectively. All jute fabrics exhibited the same affinity order (which is independent on the initial metal ion concentrations) toward heavy metal ions: Ni2+ gt Cu2+ gt Zn(2+)in the case of competitive biosorption. An increase in the initial metal ion concentration for two times in the polymetallic solution caused about a 35-59 % increase in the total uptake capacity of Ni2+, while the total uptake capacities of Cu(2+)and Zn(2+)increased for 19-38 % and 18-65 %, respectively.

AB - In this work, the volume electrical resistivity and dielectric loss tangent of viscose/polypropylene multipurpose nonwoven fabrics were examined. According to the obtained results, the changes in the volume electrical resistivity depend on the applied chemical bonding agent, viscose fiber content, moisture content, fabric thickness, fabric weight, and relative air humidity. Based on the volume electrical resistivity hysteresis, the portion of sorbed moisture retained in the material after desorption, as well as the portion of moisture removed from the material during desorption, were determined. Furthermore, the dielectric loss tangent measured at the frequency range between 30 Hz and 140 kHz, for the samples exposed to different relative air humidity (40 % and 80 %) and wet samples, is dependent on the chemical bonding agent, viscose fiber content, moisture content, as well as frequency of the external electric field. The dielectric loss tangent measured at 80 % relative air humidity showed a peak at about 100 Hz, while for the wet samples, the peak was observed in the frequency range between 30 and 140 kHz. In a wet state, the dielectric loss tangent is primarily influenced by the water molecules present in the sample.

AB - The investigation was performed on three woven mesh fabrics made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyamide (PA) 6.6 monofilaments, and PA 6.6 with carbon filament (CF). The dielectric properties were examined as functions of frequency at room conditions and as functions of frequency and temperature under the vacuum. It was observed at lower frequency higher changes of dielectric permittivity for the sample with CFs at room conditions. For PET and PA 6.6, dielectric permittivity in the vacuum was steady and little lower; furthermore, dielectric spectra showed the existence of gamma-, beta-, and alpha-relaxations. The dc volume electrical resistivity was investigated in the function of relative humidity at room temperature for PA 6.6 and PA 6.6 with CF. For the sample with the CF, a decrease in the dc electrical resistivity of nine orders of magnitude in the direction with CF was registered as compared to the direction without a conductive filament.

AB - The aim of the present research is first to reduce the jute fabric non-cellulosic components by using different chemical modifications (i.e. alkali and oxidative) and then to analyze their influence on the jute fabric properties. For that purpose, the jute fabrics were characterized in terms of their chemical composition, structural parameters, mechanical properties, volume electrical resistivity, antibacterial activity and biosorption of Zn2+. Moreover, the jute fabrics were functionalized by incorporation of silver ions and the fabrics were evaluated as sorption material with a further perspective of reuse. After the alkali modifications, the hemicelluloses were selectively removed and the fabric structural parameters increased. Alkali modifications under mild conditions (1% NaOH for 30 min and 5% NaOH for 5 min) lead to a decrease, while the most intensive alkali modification (17.5% NaOH for 30 min) contributed to an increase in the volume electrical resistivity and fabric maximum force compared to unmodified fabric. A relationship between the jute fabric chemical composition, crystallinity index, conversion of cellulose I to cellulose II, fabric structural parameters and volume electrical resistivity was found. The oxidations lead to selective lignin removal, which consequently causes a decrease in the volume electrical resistivity and fabric maximum force. Ag(+)incorporated in the selected samples decreased their electrical resistivity even further. Following the increased focus on the concept of circular economy and sustainable development goals, the biosorption potential of damaged and waste jute fabrics for Zn(2+)was investigated. Jute fabrics with incorporated Ag(+)and those obtained after the biosorption of Zn(2+)provided maximum bacterial reduction (99.99%) forEscherichia coliandStaphylococcus aureus. The chemically modified jute fabrics can be utilized as carpet backing and protective clothing in environments sensitive to electrical discharges, but also as filters for water disinfection and biosorbents for Zn2+.
AB - In this paper, the influence of thermal fixation of woven interlining on the quality of woven fabrics, evaluated from the aspect of their dc volume electrical resistivity, was investigated. The plain weave fabrics made from cotton, flax, viscose, polyester, and cotton/polyester blends and 3/1S twill weave fabric obtained from cotton and polyester fibers blend were investigated. A cotton fabric with a point-applied thermoplastic binder was used as an interlining. The obtained results showed that the dc volume electrical resistivity of fabrics is influenced by their chemical composition, type of weave, type of yarn, fabric density which is especially pronounced in the interlining, the process of thermal fixation of the interlining, and ambient air humidity. The thermal fixation of the woven interlining greatly reduces the dc volume electrical resistivity of polyester fabric (499 times in the warp direction and 860 times in the weft direction), and increases the resistivity of other fabrics in the range of 1.3 times for viscose fabric and fabric obtained from cotton and polyester fibers blend in plain weave to 3.9 times for twill weave fabric. Based on the conducted investigation, it can be concluded that the quality of the tested fabrics evaluated from the aspect of their electrical resistivities, was significantly improved in the case of polyester fabric i.e worsens in the other investigated fabrics after thermal fixation of the woven interlining.

AB - In this investigation, the influence of alkali treatment conditions on the dielectric loss factor of jute
woven fabric was studied. In that purpose, jute fabric has been alkali treated with NaOH solution
(1%, 5% and 17.5% ) at room temperature for different periods of time (5 min and 30 min). The
jute woven fabric is a heterogeneous three-phase (“fiber-moisture-air”) system, which implies the
need for investigation of jute fabric chemical composition, moisture sorption, crystallinity index
and structural parameters. The obtained results showed that with increasing the alkali treatment
severity, the hemicelluloses content decreased for 14.4-43.3%. In addition, the alkali penetration
induced fiber swelling and disrupting of the crystalline regions which result in a decreased
crystallinity index. Hemicelluloses removal together with the decreased crystallinity index
contributed to the higher availability of cellulose hydroxyl groups which in turns increases the
moisture sorption values of alkali treated jute fabrics (for 7.2-21.0%) compared to the untreated
fabric. With increasing the alkali treatment severity, the fabric thickness and fabric weight
increased, while the fabric porosity decreased. All mentioned properties influence the dielectric loss
factor, which is an important fabric parameter related to the ability of the fabric to dissipate electric
energy or to convert the electric energy to heat. On such way, the obtained increase of the dielectric
loss factor after the alkali treatments (for 2.5-9.2 times) can be attributed to the changes in the fabric
structural characteristics and decrease in the content of hemicelluloses and crystallinity index, as
well as the increased ability for moisture sorption.

AB - Waste jute fabrics (raw and alkali modified), acquired as waste from different industries
were used as an efficient biosorbent for removal of Cu
2+
ions from aqueous solution. All
woven jute fabrics (raw as well as alkali modified) were characterized by determination of
their chemical composition and amount of carboxyl groups. The effect of solution pH,
contact time and initial metal ion concentration on the biosorption were studied. The alkali
modifications lead to hemicelluloses removal and an increased amount of carboxyl groups.
The maximum biosorption capacity for Cu
2+ was observed at pH 5.5. Concerning the contact
time, more than 80% of total Cu
2+
uptake by the raw jute fabric was removed within 1 h. On
the other hand, in the case of alkali modified jute fabrics, between 70-75% of the total Cu
2+
uptake was removed within 3 h. Increased initial ion concentration from 10 to 20 mg/l
caused an increase in the total uptake capacity of alkali modified jute fabrics for 42-55%. It
was found that the biosorption properties of waste jute fabrics are predominantly influenced
by the amount of carboxyl groups, while fabric chemical composition (i.e. hemicelluloses
content) has a secondary role in the biosorption of Cu
2+
ions. The best biosorption
performance possesses alkali modified jute fabric with 58% higher amount of carboxyl
groups; its total uptake capacity towards Cu
2+
ions (at 20 mg/l) is about 2 times higher
compared to the raw jute fabric.

AB - The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma
treatment during 30 and 60 seconds on the fibrous polymeric materials made of cotton, polyethylene terephthalate and polypropylene by recording the frequency dependence of the dielectric loss tangent. Furthermore, the changes in the sample surface morphology were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). By comparing the frequency dependence of the dielectric loss tangent, the same trend with increasing the frequency was noticed for both untreated and treated samples, after 0.5 h as well as 2 and 7 days after plasma treatment. The changes in the value of dielectric loss tangent are small, but it can be noticed that the plasma effect on the cotton sample was maintained after 7 days, which is less noticeable for the samples made of polyethylene terephthalate and polypropylene. The SEM analysis of the cotton sample
showed micro cracks on its surface as a result of plasma etching, while the polyethylene terephthalate fibers appeared darker and rough after the plasma treatment. The changes were more obvious on the samples treated 60 seconds compared to samples treated 30 seconds. There are no significant changes in the polypropylene sample surface morphology.

abstract = "The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma
treatment during 30 and 60 seconds on the fibrous polymeric materials made of cotton, polyethylene terephthalate and polypropylene by recording the frequency dependence of the dielectric loss tangent.
There are no significant changes in the polypropylene sample surface morphology.",

AB - The jute woven fabric was treated with sodium hydroxide at room
temperature for 5, 30 and 45 min in order to obtain jute fabric with different
hemicelluloses content and to study their influence on the dielectric loss tangent. After
the alkali treatments, as the result of the hemicelluloses removal, the moisture sorption
of the jute fabrics increased. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the jute fabrics
with lower hemicelluloses content have a lower crystallinity index, which slightly
increased after the intensive hemicelluloses removal. These results are in a good
agreement with the results obtained for dielectric loss tangent measured at 30% and
80% relative air humidity.

AB - Woven jute fabric was treated with NaOH solution of different concentrations for 5 min to
obtain jute fabrics with gradually decreased content of hemicelluloses and increased
moisture sorption. With increasing the concentration of NaOH the crystallinity index
decreased; in the case of NaOH concentration ≥ 10 % the conversion from cellulose Iβ to
cellulose II occurred. The obtained decrease of the volume electrical resistivity after the
alkali treatments can be attributed to the changes in hemicelluloses content, crystallinity
index and moisture sorption. Increased conversion from cellulose Iβ to cellulose II leads to
an increase in the volume electrical resistivity of the mercerized jute fabrics.
dovelo do smanjenja sadržaja hemiceluloza i povećanje sorpcije vlage. Analiza rezultata
konverzije celuloze Iβ u cellulozu II.
kristaliničnosti i povećanjem sorpcije vlage. Povećan stepen konverzije celuloze Iβ u
celulozu II dovodi do povećanja zapreminske električne otpornosti mercerizovanih tkanina.

AB - In this paper, comfort parameters of clothing woven fabrics, before and after thermal fixation of interlining, were investigated. Two woven fabrics obtained from cotton and polyester fiber blends made in twill 3/1S weave, as well as cotton fusible woven dot fuse coat interlining, were used as experimental material. Air permeability and dc volume electrical resistivity were investigated as comfort parameters. The obtained results showed that the air permeability is in a function of porosity of the tested samples, their thickness and thermal fixation of interlining, while the dc volume electrical resistivity is in a function of the structural characteristics of woven fabrics, thermal fixation of interlining as well as relative air humidity. It is observed that the thermal fixation of interlining leads to a reduction in air permeability and an increase in the value of dc volume electrical resistivity of the tested woven fabrics.

AB - In this paper, the strength properties of the two groups of sponge cloths available on the market of the Republic of Serbia were investigated. One group of sponge cloths was made of viscose - cotton fiber blend (Samples 1 to 3), while the other group was reinforced with a polyester net (Samples 4 and 5). Strength properties of investigated cloths were determined based on tensile strength, tensile elongation, bursting strength and ball traverse elongation. Investigations were carried out on samples immediately after their removal from commercial packaging (wet samples) and drying on the air (T=30 °C, φ=40%) in the duration of two days (dry samples). The obtained results showed that examined strength properties are in a function of the raw material composition of the sponge cloth and moisture content in the investigated samples, while the tensile strength and tensile elongation are also in a function of the direction of the investigation (machine direction or cross direction). The results of the quality assessment of the investigated sponge cloths, obtained based on the complex criterion of quality, showed that only the sample 3 has good quality, while the other four samples have excellent quality, both in wet and dry condition.

AB - The jute woven fabric was treated with sodium hydroxide and sodium chlorite under different conditions in order to study the influence of the chemical composition on their sorption and dielectric properties. After the alkali treatments, the hemicelluloses content decreased in the range of 14.4-46.7%, which leads to elementary fiber liberalization and increased moisture sorption of the jute fabrics up to 15.5% and 11.9% at 30% and 80% relative humidity, respectively. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the removal of hemicelluloses for 14.4% and 36.6% was followed by a decrease in the crystallinity index for 3.0% and 18.8%, respectively. The additional decrease in hemicelluloses content of 46.7% was accompanied by a slight increase in the crystallinity index for about 14%. These results are in a good agreement with the results obtained for the AC specific electrical conductivity (at 30% and 80% relative humidity). After the oxidative treatments, the lignin content decreased in the range of 37.8%-79.0%, which causes two parallel effects: a slightly increased moisture sorption (up to 7.4% and 4.6% at 30% and 80% relative humidity, respectively) and crystallinity index (from 4.8%-16.6%). The jute fabrics with 37.8% and 63.2% lower lignin content and similar moisture sorption values have the same AC specific electrical conductivities at both relative humidities (30% and 80%) revealing a dominant effect of moisture sorption. The AC specific electrical conductivity of the investigated jute fabrics increases with increasing the frequency as well as relative air humidity, where the highest difference between the values of AC specific electrical conductivity is obtained at the highest frequency (140 kHz).
