AB - The present study compares the results of two different methods employed for preparation of polyaniline based glucose biosensor with respect to enzyme loading, biosensing efficiency and potential stability. Kinetic analysis of the potentiometric data for two enzyme immobilized electrode systems show that the GOx/PANI electrode is suitable for assaying samples with low analyte concentrations, whereas the GOx/m-ABA/PANI electrode system exhibits a better potential stability. It may therefore be possible to achieve high level of biosensing efficiency by chemical modeling and synthesis combined with careful selection of the immobilization method.

AB - Polyaniline (PANI) enzyme electrode was formed by immobilisation of Glucose oxidase (GOx) via glutaraldehyde into electrochemically polymerised PANI on graphite electrode. Electrochemical polymerisation of PANI on graphite was performed from aqueous solution of 1.0 mol dm(-3) HCl and 0.25 mol dm(-3) aniline at constant current density of 2.0 mA cm(-2). Hronopotentiometric curves of the PANI enzyme electrode obtained at current density of 10 mu A cm(-2) were recorded in different glucose concentrations. The linearity response range was between 1.0 and 5.0 mmol dm(-3) of glucose concentration. The estimated apparent Michaelis-Menten constant, was K-m(') = 0.30 mmol dm(-3), which is significantly lower than that of free enzyme.

AB - In this study, it is considered: (a) the effect of the exchange current density to the limiting diffusion current density ratio (J(0)/J(L)) at low level of surface coarseness on the polarization characteristics of the electrochemical process, (b) the effect of the shape of surface protrusions oil the electrode surface roughness, and (c) the effect of surface roughness oil the J(0)/J(L) ratio. It was shown that the increase of the value of the j(0)/J(L) ratio produces a decrease of overpotential at fixed value of current density. At selected set of conditions, the j(0)/j(L) ratio cats be increased by the increase of roughness of electrode surface by electrodeposition of disperse deposits at low level of coarseness The increase of the value of the J(0)/J(L) ratio produces large saving of energy required for the evaluation of electrochemical reaction The conditions in which the electrochemical process cats become Ohmic controlled were also specified.

AB - The electrochemical reduction of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) was investigated by cyclic voltammetry on a platinum electrode in aqueous sodium chloride solutions with acetonitrile containing different concentrations of TNT. The obtained cyclic voltammograms showed three distinct reduction peaks in the potential range of -0.45 to -0.8 V (vs. an Ag/AgCl (3M KCl) reference electrode), which refer to the multi-step process of TNT reduction. The calibration curves of the dependence of the first peak current on the TNT concentration were linear in the ranges 4.4-638.4 mu M and 0.11-4.40 mu M for two different scan rates, 200 my s(-1) and 20 mV s(-1), respectively. The detection limit was 0.11 mu M. Acetonitrile chemisorption on Pt surface took place and caused thus modified platinum electrode to exhibit an electrochemically stabile behaviour. Hence, a very high reproducibility over a prolonged time and voltammetric cycling was provided for using a Pt wire that is easy to handle as a suitable material for TNT sensing. Additionally, it was confirmed by testing the acetonitrile modified Pt wire for TNT detection in river water.

AB - Polyaniline (PANI) enzyme electrode was formed by immobilization of Glucose oxidase (GOx) via glutaraldehyde into electrochemicaly polymerized PANI on graphite electrode. Electrochemical polymerization of PANI on graphite was performed from aqueous solution of 1.0 mol dm-3 HCl and 0.25 mol dm-3 aniline at constant current density of 2.0 mA cm-2. Hronopotentiometric curves of the PANI enzyme electrode obtained at current density of 10 μA cm-2 were recorded in different glucose concentrations. The linearity response range was between 1.0-5.0 mmol dm-3 of glucose concentration. The estimated apparent Michaelis-Menten constant, was Km ′ = 0.30 mmol dm-3, which is scientifically lower than that of free enzyme.

AB - Polyaniline (PANI) electrode was formed by electrochemical synthesis on graphite under galvanostatic condition at current density of 2.0 mA cm-2 from aqueous solution of 1.0 mol dm-3 HCl and 0.25 mol dm-3 aniline. Electrochemical characterization of the PANI electrode was performed in 0.5 mol dm-3 HCl using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic measurements. The overall charge capacity of the PANI electrode was estimated to be 0.154 mA h cm-2, corresponding to 25 % of the theoretical mass of PANI available for the dopant exchange. It was observed that during initial cyclization at low pH, the extent of PANI degradation products was insignificant and practically had no influence on the charge/discharge characteristics of the PANI electrode.

AB - Polyaniline electrode, was obtained by electrochemical polymerization at constant current density of 2.0 mA cm-2 from aqueous solution of 1.0 mol dm-3 HCl containing 0.25 mol dm-3 aniline. Electrochemical characterization of the polyaniline electrode in chloride and chloride/citrate electrolyte, for different anodic potential limits, was performed using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic measurements. It was observed that for anodic potential 0.32 V, higher electrode capacity in chloride/citrate was obtained. For anodic potential limit of 0.50 V, faster decrease of the electrode capacity in chloride/citrate electrolyte was also observed. It was suggested that influence of both chloride and citrate anions has to be taken into account.

Corrosion current densities were determined from the mass lost and from potentiodinamic (1 mV s-1) measurements. It was concluded that magnesium and aluminum are not suitable anodic materials for use in primary electrochemical power sources. On the other hand, it was concluded that zinc could be considered as possible anodic material in both primary and secondary electrochemical power sources.

AB - This paper addresses on investigation the possibility of electrolytic treatment the sulphur acidic waste solution, obtained in the conventional electrolytic copper refining process. Beside the high copper concentration, the high concentration of other metals, in this case nickel, is the main characteristic of these waste solutions. Due to this fact, the copper bearing anodes with non-standard nickel, lead, tin and antimony content were specially prepared for the refining process. Nickel content of all anodes was approximately 7.5 mass%, and the content of lead, tin and antimony was varied. The preliminary results, obtained using the standard electrochemical techniques, have indicated that the copper bearing anodes could be used under the same conditions as well as in the conventional copper refining process. The measurements in constant galvanostatic pulse have pointed out that the all chemical elements from copper bearing anodes were dissolved and only copper was deposited onto the cathode. It was also pointed out that Ni concentration in the base working electrolyte (sulphur acidic waste solution), after 72 h of process, increased to 102 mass% at T-1 = 63 +/- 2 degrees C and up to 122 mass% at T-1 = 73 +/- 2 degrees C, while arsenic concentration decreased to a minimum value.

AB - Polyaniline (PANI) on graphite electrode was synthesized electrochemically under galvanostatic condition at current density of 2.0 mA cm-2 from aqueous solution of 1.0 moldm-3 HCl and 0.25 mol dm-3 aniline monomer. Electrochemical characterization of the PANI electrode was performed in 0.5 mol dm-3 HCl using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic measurements. The overall charge capacity of the PANI electrode was estimated to be 0.154 mA h cm-2, which corresponds to 25% of the theoretical mass of PANI available for doping exchange. It was observed that during initial cyclization at low pH, the extent of PANI degradation products was insigni cant and practically had no infuence on the charge/discharge characteristics of the PANI electrode. .

AB - Digital simulation was employed for the solution of the general polarization curve equation of metal deposition processes. By approximating the dependence of the exchange current density on concentration with a linear function for one- and two-electron transfer processes, an error lower than 20% was obtained.

By approximating the dependence of the exchange current density on concentration with a linear function for one- and two-electron transfer processes, an error lower than 20% was obtained., Za rešavanje jednačine opšte polarizacione krive za proces taloženja metala primenjena je digitalna simulacija. Aproksimirajući zavisnost gustine struje izmene od koncentracije linearnom funkcijom, za procese sa jednoelektronskim i dvoelektronskim transferom dobijena je relativna greška koja ne prelazi 20%.",

AB - The physical model of an inert electrode partially activated with hemispherical microelectrodes was formed by the deposition of silver grains on a graphite substrate. It is shown that the process on the microelectrodes can be under activation control despite the fact that the overall rate is determined by the diffusion layer of the macroelectrode. On the basis of this conclusion a mathematical model of mass transfer on an inert electrode partially covered with active hemispherical particles (microclectrodes) is given and verified qualitatively by appropriate experiments. It was found that the degree of activation does not depend on the size of the particles, but on the ratio of the radius of the particles to the interparticle distance. This means that the quantity of catalyst required for the transformation of an inert electrode into an active one decreases strongly with decreasing active particle size. It was also shown that the maximum current density to the activated inert electrode was equal to the limiting diffusion one to the massive active electrode, as well as that the activity of the modified inert electrode at the same coverage of catalyst strongly depends on the exchange current density of the electrochemical process taking place on it. The larger is the exchange current density, the lower is the quantity of catalyst required for the same effect on the activity of the modified electrode.

AB - Kinetics of the mild steel corrosion protection in 0.1 mol dm(-3) H2SO4 by polypyrrole coatings have been investigated by the means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry, polarization measurements and linear polarization. It has been concluded that during the initial time of immersion the coating resistance parameters increase which was connected with diffusion controlled dedoping of oxalate anions, simultaneously with hydrogen evolution reaction on polymer and dissolution of iron through polymer pores. Dedoping of oxalate anions from the bulk of the polymer decreases the polymer conductivity which provokes decrease of overall corrosion rate. After similar to 40 h, the completely dedoped PPy coating acts as a classical polymer.

AB - The catalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) of Ni/WC composites obtained by electrochemicaldeposition of nickel from a conventional Watt’s bath, using two different ways of depositing the WC particles, wasinvestigated. All the composite coatings exhibited electrocatalytic activity for the HER larger than that of pure Ni inboth alkaline and acid solution. The activity increased with increasing content of WC in the coating and, in thepulsed current regime, with increasing frequency of pulsation. In addition, coatings with smaller particles incorporatedexhibited higher activity than those with larger particles. At a constant potential, an order of magnitudehigher current densities were obtained in some cases.
